Thought on Halo 4 Campaign.

I think that the more recent Halo game’s Campaigns were way too easy. They should make the Halo 4 campaign as hard as Halo CE, I always felt that game was harder.

You do know we have skulls right?

Skulls are in Halo 4.

One the achievements in Halo 4 is confirmation enough.

Skullduggery - Complete any Campaign mission with 3 or more Skulls on Heroic or harder - (15 Points)

I know that, but I’m talking about without skulls, it’s just way too easy, even on legendary. Skulls do make it harder, but it would be better if it was originally even more hard.

Recent Halo games are certainly easier on Legendary/Heroic compared to CE/2 but how do you know Halo 4 will be cake walk?

I don’t know that, that’s why I’m hoping it will be harder.

Maybe you’ve been playing it so much that it appears easier? Maybe you’re so used to fighting the same people that you always know how to fight them? I remember people complaining about Drones in Halo 2, and Skirmishers were complained about in Reach.

Besides, the problem with making it more challenging is that you run the risk of making it frustrating. One thing I’ve always hated about some games is that the simply increase the enemies health and weapon damage. That doesn’t make it more challenging, it means you have to shoot them more and duck more often.

A few games have better ideas, like skulls or mutators. Reach increased the difficulty for the amount of players and scaled it up. In Timesplitters, increasing the difficulty actually increased the length of the mission and added new areas, enemies and objectives (some enemies don’t even appear on easier settings).

The best way for Halo to increase difficulty would be to increase enemies and increase their variety of weapons and different units on each encounter.

I definitely do not think that I’m just imagining that it is easier. I have been playing Halo CE on legendary and it takes me forever, where in Halo reach legendary only takes me like half as long.

I think the HALO 4
Campaign looks epic and amazing all rolled up into a little ball of Delicious

And hopefully its Hard and if not we do have skulls and other easter eggs to have fun with .

I can’t wait to try 4’s Legendary mode with these new enemies we face.

Hopefully it’s rockhard, nothing better than playing 4 player co-op with your friends on Legendary.

I personally think modern games have become more linear and easier to play as this link describes.

I just hope in the campaign: If you got an objective to do, you actually have to stick with the objective, or you fail. Because what’s the point in running away from your objective? It ruins the point of the campaign.

Halo 2 Legendary? No thanks. CE Legendary was just right.

Just turn on the skulls. If you have the option to make the game harder why complain about it?

I think it’s clear that we all want a worthy challenge.

I’m hoping H4 to be CE’s successor.

My thoughts from another post:

> * it isn’t a matter of speedrunning and luck but of punishment and pushing through (but mostly punishment)
> * the entire level can be done, with no major skipping. I know people who do AotCR Legendary thoroughly. I know several people who don’t even use guns or vehicles on that level & difficulty, though it takes them many attempts. I’ve seen people do the T&R grav lift battle on Legendary with no guns. These kinds of feats should extend to SLASO. H2, H3, and Reach Legendary difficulties leave little room for creativity. Vehicle combat was once survivable. But in those games, it is intense to fight them on foot. Almost always, it’s better to just EMP and/or board the vehicle or just skip it
> * the encounters aren’t exaggerated. If it weren’t for all the enemy advantages and player disadvantages, the Halo campaigns would be easy. CE has the decency to keep things balanced to some degree and that is why I consider it successful and immersive, an honest campaign.

By luck, I mean things like that -Yoink!- Brute on The Ark (course, it’s easy to just run right past him), flying supply cases, Banshee canopy and debris splattering the player, being launched while in a tank (in H3 and Reach). That’s not fun. That’s just bs and random.

Even CE has some randomness, on T&R:

  1. the boarding battle. Some players get all the luck and end up with no Zealots. Some players will have to fight several Zealots. And some really (un)lucky players will have to fight 10 Zealots!
  2. after the boarding battle, if you try to fight the enemies in the next corridors, there will be enemies that may spawn right behind you
