Those E3 2018 announcement trailer vibes

Commented this in another thread but thought it should have a thread of it’s own. Halo has been dead to me and all of my friends and a lot of other fans since Halo 4/5. But the E3 2018 aanouncement, when everyone saw Chief’s armour and errupted, it felt like a lot of people who don’t normally talk about Halo were talking about it again. And as the little bits of information came out I think we all believed the next Halo game was just going to be nostalgia and fan service on steroids. I think the world was pretty much expecting “Halo the way it was” and that’s where all that hype came from. IMO it’s pretty obvious what the fans want and what more people in general would really love, and the template/s already exist. The sales numbers already speak for themselves too cough Halo 3

Edit: Also as a side clue, ever noticed which MCC title is easier to find games in? That’d be Halo 3 right?

And I’m not even going to complain about Infinite as there are so many threads doing that already. But how the vibes have changed since 2018, eh?

Obviously I can only speak for myself here, but here goes

I’ve always been a huge halo fan, and I’ve been with the franchise since almost the beginning.
It was the one game, the one game that I always came back to…It was the game that I would play constantly, and when I’d get frustrated with it I’d throw my controller (not literally) say I’d never play it again and then wind up logging back into it 20min later because its the only game I had intrest in
These things were especially true for H3 and to a lesser extent H:R

H4 changed that and it was never the same again, I’d hop on, play a game or two and then not touch it for weeks at a time because of how bad I felt it was from a gameplay standpoint
in H5 after 5 years I’ve only played something like 700 (or less) matches because I just…can’t…
When H5 came out I was very active on the forums hell I even gave away a limited edition of H5 to someone along with hundreds of DLC packs on waypoint, but as time went on I went away because imo, there was nothing worth talking about
the halo I knew was long gone

The 2018 Infinte trailer showcasing the new engine was brilliant it looked so vibrant and I dunno, I could tell there was somehting
The campaign trailer launched and I got really excited, an art style that looked and felt like halo again the sound effects…CHIEF!!!..
Then the game play…and I was thnking to myself…“we awaited 5 years, got a new graphical engine and they spent 500M…for this?” and I was happy they delayed for a year
Then the tech preview came and went and I was pleasently surprised
Sure I could pick things apart but in the end this was the first time since H3 that I felt like I was playing a halo game, and I got excited and have been active on the forums ever since
Now, we get the information that the game won’t be complete at launch and I find myself while still optimistic, worried we will have a launch like H5 , find myself saying “we had a year of delay and you still aren’t done?” and find myself hoping the game is delayed again so we can have that full comphrehensive emersive halo experience I have wanted for a long time…

The most hype thing for me recently was the Development Update outside of the news of the co-op and forge delay. The campaign footage of the environment was spectacular and actually looked like the engine when they first it showed off.

I’m excited for Halo Infinite but I would like those epic trailers to return, I remember trailers like “Deliver Hope”, “Believe”, “We are ODST” and more!, I need something like that.
