Thorne & Halsey

I was thinking about Thorne’s history, his character in general and his importance to the story; the quote -“I always thought the Spartans were special. Maybe I could have saved them.” Stood out to me after seeing the latest S-Ops episode.

Which brought me to this. Some Spartan is probably eventually going to finding Halsey in Spartan Ops, possibly with orders to shoot on sight. And I believe the only one that would not do that would be Thorne.

Though there are countless scenarios that could happen; Lasky could order the Spartans to capture and detain for execution, but considering Palmers eagerness to see what’s on the inside of Halsey’s head… I don’t know if she would allow herself to be held back by a trivial order from Lasky when the head of ONI gave them the order to kill. And ONI is head of the Spartan branch are they not?

What do you all think and feel on this? I was rather surprised seeing Admiral Osman pop up on the view screen, and I instantly knew it was bad news for Halsey. But I don’t know if they would want to kill Halsey in the Spartan Ops series, and considering the gravity of the situation, killing Halsey at this point would basically be slitting humanity’s throat at this moment. Plus I don’t want to see her die! At least in such a meaningless way.

So feel free to say how you think it’ll go down, what characters would be involved and all that.

In the description of the trailer on YouTube, it says Palmer will go to kill Halsey, and Lasky sends Majestic to stop her.

Now that you said what Thorne said in Episode 4, it definitely seems that, while Majestic will definitely try to stop Palmer, Thorne will definitely be the one to save Halsey.

There seems to be more to Throne than I initially realized. I found a note between Parangoksy (who I assume is M) and Halsey in my Limited Edition and on the back is a message from Hoya to Throne saying:

“Still looking for more, but I found this on the network. if she did put the engines in this thing, then this has to be a letter to her, yeah?”

-Hoya

Throne seems really intrested in the Spartans before him and Halsey, but why.

I completely forgot about that letter! I now remember reading it while installing my disc to my HD, but then promptly forgot about all of it after doing a half-allnighter playing campaign with my friends.

I have also underestimated the importance of Thorne a tad. I wonder if they’re building Thorne’c character up to be knocked down in the end or if they’re going to make him into a new steady character to the universe. Because we haven’t gotten to the “disfigurement” part yet have we?

I’ll keep this brief.

I don’t think ANYONE is going to be killing and/or saving Halsey. She has always had a higher purpose in this universe. I think her linking up with The Librarian indicates that there are big plans for Halsey’s character…

Thorne as well. There is a reason they are expanding his character (plus all the Thorne stuff that came with the LE version of the game). I believe Thorne also has a higher purpose.

Only time will tell…

This. Personally, I’m thinking that Thorne could turn out to be the Spartan version of Lasky: coming from meager origins (UNSC cadet/generic Spartan-IV respectively) to rise through the ranks.

Perhaps Thorne will eventually end up taking Sarah Palmer’s place as commander of Infinity’s Spartan contingent?

Depending on what transpires, it could set things up for Halo 5 with Lasky, Halsey and Thorne all playing parts in assisting the Master Chief in whatever adventure he’ll face next.

Of course, all of this is simply my personal conjecture, but the above poster is right in that all of Thorne’s character development won’t be wasted.

I can’t really see why shouldn’t be commander. IMO he seems to be the “best” of the Spartan IVs, both in combat and temperament. Halsey obviously considers him to be the closest to a “real” Spartan amongst the IVs.

I’m thinking Halsey will need some saving considering this -

> ONI has ordered Doctor Halsey assassinated, and Sarah Palmer is slated to pull the trigger. Lasky, in an effort to save Halsey’s life, sends Fireteam Majestic to stop Palmer.

Certain deaths and dramatic scenes are what build suspense and drama. Though I don’t think Halsey will die nor thorn, if 343i did decide to take story telling to the next level and ramp up a truly epic story, I wouldn’t bet on anything anymore then.
