In a franchise that is a video game, who thought it was a good idea to make it so this story progresses thru voting on a website instead of, oh idk, giving us an in game mission where the player chooses their own outcome? This whole seasonal story model sucks. You guys were trying to copy Destiny but went in the completely wrong direction with it. I have no idea what’s happening. You gave us a few cutscenes with brand new characters that no one cares about because we see them only in cutscenes. The player never interacts with them in anyway. You want to give players more campaign content while they wait for the next DLC, start giving us story missions that play into the season.
You’re saying this when this company put more plotpoints and major events in books and comics while neglecting their own games
There’s no way that was going to happen.
At least not until the company starts hiring people instead of simply using them for short term benefits.
What you’re suggesting would be several years worth of work. Not worth it.
It’s true, 343 relies too much on authors to fill in the massive blanks they create in their games. Both sources are supposed to be helping each other tell a story but it seems the books have to bail the games out of continuity and lore troubles time and time again.
It’s obvious to me that no one inside of 343 can write a decent story. That’s why they had to bring outside help to finish writing a spiritual reboot for the last game in their confusing trilogy, but I don’t think Joe is going to get much done here. 343 will end up hindering his work more than helping it and then blame him or the fans for all the problems they are facing.
Also, it’s kind of surprising to me that Fracture Events have more attention than the actual story of Infinite… I mean, these Fracture events aren’t even canon lol they are pointless stories that will be forgotten next Season.
I think that gives the authors too much credit. They rarely give you more actual information than what the games provide. Indeed they’re written as if you know what Spartans for example look like and assume basic knowledge of the world.
My impression is that a lot of the novels are “Bolter -Yoink!-” and the quality is actually below most Black Library novels. Very generic sci fi stuff they’ve been asked to turn out with a Halo coat of paint.
The last few books showed an almost disdain for addressing the issues. Both those retconned from Halo 5 like the Created/Cortana and the Banished weirdly enough. Would think they would use opportunity to explain why they don’t like humanity and are at war with the UNSC. You know, really deep and obscure lore.
If anything they probably over corrected since I think Halo 4 tie in books did give you more on the post war UNSC and Jul M Dama.
For what it’s worth I like the idea of the Fracture events. But yeah, when you have so little content and are leaving the main story to fester for months; that’s not the best use of time. Like the Intel page on this site has in three months got us to “oh we can copy that Eratus AI and Joe is okay.” Captivating story. So much interest from the Halo YouTubers on this. They’re clearly spreading out what’s meant to be a rapid fire series of events with enough time so everyone is exposed to the story. In practice, nobody will recall that Volupsa thing and the Lone Wolves we met.
I know the books can’t do all the heavy lifting because they are essentially “told what to do” but I think there is better story telling in the books than in 343’s games. The authors are actual writers, with experience and I think they do Halo-stories better than 343. I think if 343 took the shackles off of the authors and let them build a Halo story without restrictions, it would have a much better storyline. Maybe 343 could then just worry about making the gameplay instead of trying to make everything some big mystery all the time.
So far they’ve added 2 maps in what, 8 months? There’s no way they could push out additional new missions like this without either pushing stuff back or a ton of reused, hashed together stuff.
You guys are acting like this was a suggestion for now as opposed to something to work on for the future. I’m aware this stuff doesn’t just happen tomorrow. 343 didn’t have the foresight to implement this now, so I’m suggesting this so they can work on it and have it ready in a year or two. Remember, this is a game that is supposedly going to be around for 10 years. The more good ideas get passed around, the better this game is going to be.
“The more good ideas gets passed around the better this game is going to be”
Yeah that relies on if 343 will listen and implement it
Something they rarely do unless forced to because the higher uos thinks they know better than the actual fans
Looks at halo 5 and the req system
Looks at how playable elites have been avoided for the past decade even though fans have been asking for them to return since halo freaking 4
Looks at how they push the multiplayer is canon bs but refuse to actually go down on that and have our mp participate in campaign as a co op option and not a excuse for no playable elites
Looks at how they tended to lie when it comes to features of infinite ie the coatings not being strict and limiting as the color system of the past and how this game wouldn’t have fomo when the store outright has fomo built into it
Looks at how threads get locked here when you suggest ideas revolving around body types
Looks at how they don’t have many employees because they basically relied on a revolving door of contract employees to get this game done
Looks at how stuff is restricted for no good reason ie coatings and visors
Man I’m surprised people still give 343 the benefit of the doubt with this game like the best case scenario is even if they did take the great ideas that the community offers it would take more than 6+ years at this point like i see why they said this game will be supported for 10 years. Its because they decided they would take 10 years to finish adding the stuff that should’ve been in the game on DAY 1 because this crap is taking longer than halo 5 to get the content that should’ve been in the game
