This stuff doesn't sound like Halo.

I am reading these specializations and I am kind of, well shocked.

I am shocked because it isn’t what Halo is about and not why it was made.

You know why people liked Halo 2 and Halo 3? Because they were fun shooters where everyone had an equal footing and the only “edge” was really who got the power weapons or whoever had map control.

These “perks” completely destroy the Halo formula altogether. It is no longer an FPS where everyone has equal footing, it is a class-based game now where the higher rank people will dominate over lower ranks because of their abilities they earned (rather than skill) and everyone has game-changing “powers”.

I also think it is funny the people who spend more money will get the chance to be able to unlock more perks faster than everyone else. I don’t mind if it was skins, but letting people who spend more money have more powerful abilities in MM than regular players is just wrong and frankly doesn’t make any sense.

Look, I have not played Halo 4 yet or these “specializations” but from the douns if it, it seems to be an attempt to be a class based game, not what Halo was. I hope there is going to be a classic playlist.

TL:DR:

  • people who play longer will get abilities that will help them dominate other players rather than with skilled play.

  • People who spend more money on Halo 4 will have faster and easier access to more powers and abilities than other players.

  • Overall, it creates an imbalance among players rather than everyone having an equal footing which is NOT what Halo is about.

Take it how you want, I really think everyone should be equal in the game and having these “armor” perks in MM is going to create an imbalance in gameplay.

Living in the past, I see. These specializations barely offer any extreme advantages, just minor tweaks to your play style. They aren’t super weapons.

I’m still buying it. And enjoying every -Yoink!- moment of it.

From what I’ve heard, the specializations are unlocked for everyone at a rate that 343i decides. Apparently, it’s kinda like that old rank cap in Reach. IOW everyone gets them at the same time. Is there something I’m missing? :\

As for the other customization options, I don’t see how they would make the playing field uneven if they’re properly implemented – a big “if”, I know. If each ability and armor modification is balanced, then everyone still has equal footing – they’re just wearing different-colored shoes.

Welcome to the next generation of Halo.

Gen 1 wouldn’t last in today’s market, so 343i moved Halo forward with Gen 2.

Still Halo, but a new Halo suited and evolved for the market.

Im guessing you didn’t read the part that you have to be MAX RANK to use them and people that don’t buy the LE can still get them but they have to be unlocked. And im sorry but the armor mods aren’t going to be game breaking. If I hit the max rank than yes i deserve to have something you don’t. I don’t care how unfair it is. Halo is still Halo but it needs a new look upon it and 343i is going in the RIGHT direction.

No, if you buy the limited edition you get every specialization at launch, while everyone else gets them slowly.

I am not living in the past, I just want to play a Halo game.

Last time I played Halo, it didn’t have perks and special armor add-ons that change the gameplay.

(AAs is where I drew the line)

This is dumb because not only do higher ranking players unlock new abilites that give them an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE over lower ranks but people who spend more money, get PERKS faster and easier than everyone else so they become Op.

I can’t say this enough, people liked Halo 2 and 3 because it DIDN’T do this.

I don’t mind these if they were in spartan OPS but in MM they are unfair and cause an unfair shift in power regardless of any skill.

> it isn’t what Halo is about and not why it was made.

  1. How do you know why Halo was made? For me, it was made to have fun in an expansive universe. These additions in no way negate or detract from those goals.

  2. Halo was made by Bungie previously. This is made by 343i. It’s a new day, so roll with it or don’t.

#1: No, specializations will not give enough change so that people can “dominate”.

#2: Incorrect, people who get the LE still have to rank up like everyone else but has a wider variety to choose from when they get there.

#3: Again, the change is not large enough to create a noticeable imbalance.

#4: No. IT WILL NOT BE IMBALANCED!

You are arguing with a brick wall, man.

343 could make take the shields away, make the game a third person shooter, and make us shoot western weapons and these people would still defend the changes with all their hearts, because change is good, and if you don’t like it you can just go play Halo 3.

If the trueskill system works correctly you won’t have to worry about having an advantage over lower ranked players because everyone you play will be about your rank.

It all comes down to personal playstyle.

Everyone apart from those who get the limited edition (me included) will be available to access them at the same time. The game is still Halo, just with a few tweaks to cater to your play style.

And we’re talking to brick walls too, because you seem to think any new addition that wasn’t in previous Halos automatically makes the game not Halo.

YEAH! Let’s just keep defending their decision by using IF sentences! That really proves our point!

The armor doesn’t actually make a difference, you just unlock it with the specialization you choose. Halo needs to adapt to today’s growing market of games. It needs to offer something spicy to reel people in and keep old fans where they are in order to compete with other popular franchises. Back when Halo was Halo , there weren’t many other shooters out there, or many other popular games for that matter.

Good things always have to end, because better things come along. If Halo stayed the same, it would be slaughtered by today’s market. We can’t keep old things around all the time because they eventually get dull.

You don’t think this will be imbalanced?

People with higher ranks unlock perks that give them an edge over other players. No one is equal anymore, atleast with AAs, everyone had a choice to get someone another person has, not in Halo 4.

Also when the game comes out, everyone can only go for 2 perks while everyone who paid more can get 8. The fact is there will be people who have certain advantages and it could take months to get on their same level.

I like this idea for things like Spartan Ops or the Mass effect multiplayer. But not for MM against players. When you have people who have perks that the other players can’t get/don’t have, it is not fair.

I just think that armor shouldn’t add any advantages to gameplay, I think people should either have access to everything from the get-go or get nothing. I think skill should be defined by actual skill, not advantages earned by whoever pays the most or not based around individual skill.

… what else am I supposed to use? We don’t know how the trueskill system will work.

Saying “the trueskill system will be good and will help” is wrong because we don’t know that. Saying “the trueskill system will be bad and won’t help” is also wrong.

No I don’t. I think that things that change the basic foundations of the game make it not Halo. Like perks, loadouts, random spawns, instant respawns, and Specializations.

Man, you’re actually trying to say this is Halo? The other ones I’ve talked to at least admit these changes are radically different.
