This should be the Default controls

These should be the default controls for Halo 4

A - Jump
B - Melee
X - Toggle Croutch (sorry probably spelled that wrong)
Y - Switch Weapon
Left Stick Click/hold - Sprint
Right Stick Click - Zoom in
Left Trigger - Grenade
Right Trigger - Fire Weapon
Left Bumper - Armor Ability
Right Bumper - Reload/Interact with object
Dpad - Switch Grenades

Anything I forgot?
Do you guy’s like it? I do. Tell me what you think.

i agree with most of it except for a three things. I believe that melee should stay right bumper and x as reload and B as crouch (or have d-pad as crouch and b as switch grenade. The main difference in opinion is the preference from halo 3 controls and reach. I prefer reach’s controls but having both options would be ideal.

I don’t know I’ll be satisfied as long as this is atleast an option. This seems like a pretty good way to do it seeing how there will be sprint defaultly there plus another AA.

I tend to perfer to use Halo 3’s controls due to the fact that it is close to the rest of the Halo games’ defaults if I recall correctly, and I got so used to the Halo 3 control scheme it would feel foriegn to me to play with any other control scheme. Like for Reach I used the Recon Control scheme because it VERY closely resembled Halo 3’s control scheme.

Sounds great to me!
No control set will work so perfectly for any game like Bumper Jumper in Halo 3.
It worked perfectly for everything.
But now with AA and Sprint, BJ just doesn’t work anymore… ):
Oh well…
Can’t wait for Halo 4!

personally i like reaches because of the melee being the bumper which feels more natural to me. although, I have little trouble going back and forth between button setup from game to game.

i think that as long as they have a setup for all types of players it will be awesome. who knows, maybe i will end up preferring the halo 3 similar in halo 4

Same here, i can’t wait for Halo 4. I’m so excited for this years E3!!!

I don’t understand why everyone is so fond of Sprint on the left stick. All you have to do is click a damn button, so why would you replace the crouch button where you need to hold it down. Give the option to switch between your AA and sprint on the d-pad and all the problems are solved.

Crouch can be toggled. Meaning you don’t have to hold down the button to stay crouched. I put the Sprint on the stick because Sprint and another AA will be present at all times, meaning you can’t just stick it in the normal AA spot. It just seemed like the most natural place for it to me. There probably will be a control option for what you are suggesting.

I don’t mind sprint being on the thumbstick. I don’t really take advantage of crouch jumping. I just want to see GREEN THUMB still.

If you set your controls to toggle crouch, you can no longer crouch jump. Moving crouch to a face button means you can no longer multitask while crouch jumping. Why would you move sprint to a button that allows you to multitask when you are physically unable to multitask while sprinting? There is no logical reason for moving sprint to the left stick other than the fact that it is like this in other games.

I don’t really care what controls are default, as long as there is still the Reach default controls. I’ve gotten quite used to that and like it.

Good point I never thought about crouch jumping.

Yeah, it’s really my only concern with it. It is really an important feature to the game, whether it is finding new tactical jumps, gandhi hopping, or just maneuvering quicker. If they provide alternative options that allow you to have crouch on the left stick, I will be happy. It’s 2012 for crying out loud, let us custom map our controllers.

How about this guys…

> Y = Switch Weapon
> X = Action/Reload
> B = Switch Grenade
> A = Jump

> Right Bumper = Melee
> Right Trigger = Fire Weapon
> Left Bumper = Sprint
> Left Trigger = Throw Grenade
>

> Right Thumbstick click = Scope

> D-pad Up (or maybe Left) = AA

That could be good except for the AA on the D-pad because for some things like Jetpack you have to hold on the button to keep using it. And having it on the d-pad like that would make it hard to manuever with the jetpack. And would be a little awkward. But other than the jetpack that would be okay, its the only real problem I see with it. However I like mine better just mainly because I like having melee on the B button and I like my controls more like Halo 3. But yeah not a bad control scheme.

Hmmm, good point. I’ll have to make some changes…

Edit:

Option 2

> Y = Switch Weapon
> X = Action/Reload
> B = AA
> A = Jump

> Right Trigger = Fire Weapon
> Left Bumper = Sprint

Having AA on B Button may affect aiming while using Jetpack, but at least it will require some skill to do so.
It also may prove difficult to reload and switch weapons while in mid-flight.

You know what, this layout actually look better than the first. It would suit my new way of playing console games without the pad much better.

I prefer Reach’s controls because In Halo 3 I hated crabbing my controller and taking my thumb off of the Right Stick jsut to melee and I would be screwed out of kills.

RB- Melee
RT- Shoot
LB- Armor Ability
LT- Grenade Throw
LS- Click to sprint
RS- Turn Camera
A- Jump
B- Crouch
X- Reload/Swap Weapons/Enter and Exit Vehicles
Y- Switch Weapons
Right/Left D-Pad- Change Grenades
Up/Down D-Pad- Flashlight (For those Dark custom maps where everything is pitch black)

Not using a control scheme which uses the analog stick as spring.

Y - Switch Weapons

B - Melee

X - Interact

A - Jump

Left Analog(held) - Crouch

Right Analog(clicked) - Zoom

Left Trigger - Grenade

Right Trigger - Shoot

Left Bumper - AA

Right Bumper - Assassination or Sprint, maybe both?

D-Pad Up - Alternate Vision

D-Pad Left/Right - Switch Grenade

D-Pad Down - I guess its just a spare button. Maybe if 343 lets us have multiple alternate visions we can switch between them.

In making this post I realized that AA’s are the reason dual-wielding would be difficult to bring back.
