This pisses me off

Ok y’all, can you please explain something to me? The season reset, yay, fresh start. I decided to play some placement games with a friend in Doubles and Swat. We played the exact same games. We won and lost the same amount of them. We both led our teams/had good games, (no -Yoink- you can look at the stats).

At the end of our first 10 my friend (Spartan Rank 50, I’m 134) ranks in at Plat 4. Ok not a bad start. Easy enough to get back up to Diamond/Onyx. However I rank in at…drum roll…Silver 4! What!? This makes absolutely no sense to me!? Now there’s a huge amount of work for me to do just to catch up to him. I don’t play swat that often which is why I’m even more pissed. I just wanted a good starting rank. But seriously, how is this possible?

What did you rank last season?

That could have an affect on how you are ranked this season.

It may have just been luck, but last season, I ranked Diamond 1 in Slayer.
After completing my placement matches after the reset, I ranked Diamond 2 in Slayer.

If that makes sense.

Well factors that affect your rank are previous ranks and KD. I’d recommend reaching out to Quinn Del Hoyo or Unyshek for this

It’s because Doubles placement ranks are broken. I always play with the same friend and he probably does better 75%+ of the time yet I always place higher…and it isn’t even close…

Here is a post I made a while back with stats:

Old post

It’s due to your rank in doubles from the last season. Your previous rank strongly affects what you get in placements.

Is that why I got Diamond 2 in Slayer?

Probably so, you were Diamond 1 last season and I’m guessing you probably won a good amount of of your placement matches against opponents at or above your rank. Your ranking is also dependant upon the quality of your opponent, that’s why I’m thinking you played higher ranked opponents and got a boost in your placements rank.

Also, the longer you hold a rank in a certain playlist, the more likely you are to rank around that level. I’ve ranked fairly high in FFA for several seasons so even if I did poorly in all my matches and didn’t win a single one I probably wouldn’t rank any lower than onyx due to the amount of quality matches I have against other onyx players. If course we don’t know exactly how the ranking system scores you but it seems to be way it works based on my experience.

Thanks for the replies guys. That makes sense. I hardly played at all last season, so I understand why, but it still annoys me a bit

Yea, what others have said, previous season ranks will have an affect on your new rank/placement.
