I think its time to add more hamster wheels to the web servers guys.
Site’s been buggy since the maintenance, we get it.
Not buggy, severely underpowered.
We have 5000 people trying to use this forum right now after E3 and it shows.
Im not sure theres a good excuse for it seeing as this website is part of a company which owns one of the biggest server clusters in the world.
Yeah, what Fatal said.
Step your game up, Microsoft.
That would be a speed record to me, more often then not it just crashes when I try to post, or do double/triple post at random, then no post the other time.
I’ve been on some bad forums, I’ve even been on the new Homefront forums prior to release, and while they were bugged you could at least post.
What’s the point in having forums you can neither visit, nor post or read in?
I sure hope they fix this soon, it’s getting very, very old and I think we can expect some serious issues when Halo 4 is launched

You know why people keep talking about it? Because it’s atrocious. That number at the bottom of the page should not exceed 4.0 on a regular basis and it does so in an even higher lower bound of 10 for at least half of the pages I attempt to load. That’s horrible. Even if this was 2001 I would have to question the competency of the webmaster of this site.
You make it seem like its some trivial thing like a dead pixel in the sites background that all these repeat topics have been created about.

The number on the bottom of the page has been inaccurate since E3, the day when we had apparently 45,000+ on the forums and the next day even higher, then at the end of the day it went right back down to the regular 500 on a day.
The downtime we are getting constantly is not due to the traffic hitting the site, just poorly handled maintenance from the other day.

I really need to stop explaining things poetically.
The number at the bottom of the page is the amount of seconds it takes to load the page, not the population of the forums.
Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, it became too much slow after the updates…
Some pages take me minutes to load.
It’s Saturday, so I’m going to break the rules and respond quickly without Angel around.
The web team is very, very, painfully aware of the performance on the forums of late and it’s essentially all I’ve been working on for the last week (jokes about “well it sure doesn’t seem like it” are fine). I worked on it til around midnight last night and am working on it again right now, I say that just so you are all aware that we take this extremely seriously. Waypoint wouldn’t be as awesome as it is without the community.
I’d like to share a bit more with you all about what we’re doing, but that really requires Angel around so I don’t go putting my foot in my mouth or revealing the secret to the second boss in the campaign.
Moa, as always, I appreciate your support for the team and the site.

Good to hear, but any ways, the SECOND boss in the Campaign? There was one?
Ooooh.

Oh wow, web staff replied to this thread.
I appreciate the effort bro, this is surely one of the largest forums on the web now in terms of concurrent users and DB size etc.
Dont worry about the working hard stuff though, hard work is for losers! Just add for hamster wheels w/ hamsters to the server and this will give you MORE POWER

I definitely appreciate all the hard work! Looking forward to the time when the Waypoint Forums are fully operational.

Indeed, its great that an active post is issued to help us out. I’m glad the team is working on it, as half the time even the ‘Forum’ tab sticks me with ‘This service is unavailable’. Thanks for the what you are doing tech team!
Well it’s very comforting that ya’ll are working hard. The forums are once again back up to optimal speed for me…for the time being. So your work is paying off.
I’d thank you if I could but Firefox doesn’t allow that.
I couldn’t access these forums at all the passed week or so. Just now, I could and it’s going faster than ever. Lets hope it stays like this…
All it takes is a “We’re working on it” to appease you guys?
The speed issues with this forum are a huge problem. I’ve visited plenty of forums in my days on the Internet and never experienced the kind of problems this forum has on a regular basis. I’m no expert in forum maintainence, but i know of forums run by one or two people that always run smoothly. So how does a forum run by a subcompany of Microsoft seem to always have problems?

To be honest as a whole, the pre-set software is bad to begin with.
I would have just thanked Fatal and the Web Team, but its not working, so thank you guys.
I think the site as a whole really needs to be polished up quite a lot. If you ask me, Blizzard really have to have the best site of a video game. Everything just flows, it’s nice to look at and it’s integrated beautifully into their games.
