This "new" experience is killing Halo

I went to Gamestop today to go buy a second Xbox controller and I noticed Halo 4 was selling for 49.99 used. It’s still the same price at Walmart however, but I can’t believe the first Halo title of the new trilogy has dropped so much after just 2 months. Reach is still $22 used and Halo 3 is only $17 which is laughable. I hope 343 sees and understands what this “new” Halo experience is doing to the new franchise, it’s slowly killing it.

The original Halo trilogy was true to the Halo name and spirit of the franchise. Halo was born as an Competitive Arena FPS. Why is it so hard for 343 to realize that? Halo 4 is a sequel to Halo 3, Couldn’t Halo 4’s matchmaking be a sequel to Halo 3’s matchmaking? You take the 1-50 system, you trash it, and bring back Reachs progressive system which was so flawed it was hellish and all of a sudden Halo becomes a game where no matter whether you win or lose you get rewarded, and provides absolutely no competitivity. Now I expect the blind fanboys to come in and fire back with “Halo 4 is perfect” and “go play Halo 3 then”. Well how about you go back to Halo 3, and try to get past your 20 then, see how you still match up against players in an Arena FPS instead of a Class Based FPS, and see if you do better or worse at Halo 3 then you would at Halo 4.

All in all, yes the new Halo trilogy deserves a fresh experience, not an entirely new experience that DEFACES the Halo name (yes Reach, I’m speaking about you) and changes everything we’ve come to know about Halo!!

And I’ll say this. These upcoming TU’s will show exactly how much 343 has learned about what killed Halo 4 and if they’ve even listened to the community at all.

So basically go back and get destroyed so you can love being destroyed so you can love 1-50 that tells you you’re destroyed. Yep that will have them wanting 1-50 all over again and being called scrub every two minutes. Tell you what I hope you get your 1-50 but please add the ability to turn it off for the people not checking their virtual crotch anytime someone debates halo.

Knowing 343i and given the “competitive” team slayer pro playlist they gave competitive players, It is becoming very clear that 343i has no idea what makes a game competitive anymore.

I wouldn’t expect for too much from 343i.

The only reason and I mean the ONLY reason they switched to a classed based shooter is to compete with CoD. Arena Halo is dead and I will not be anticipating 343’s next Halo.

There’s over 100k players on daily during the peak periods. The population reached almost 150k during the past week.
Reach was claimed to be killing Halo, actually claimed to have killed Halo with its 100k population.
Reach’s MLG and Arena playlists only show larger than 2k populations when there was a bonus cR weekend for them. Slayer Pro started off the same way.

… Overall there is a severe lack of evidence of this killing. The

Hey OP,

Your logic makes no sense. Black Ops 2, Dishonoured, Assassins Creed and many other games dropped to that price as well. Does that mean they fail? Does that mean they’re not good? Does that mean their developers are killing the game?

Stop this obsession with highest numbers. A game is not dying or being killed if it doesn’t have the highest price or the highest population.

Care to reply with a more non-343 defense force response? You’re post made no sense whatsoever.

Hmmm, I see it 60$ everywhere except Amazon… and some places have dropped COD to 40-50$ oh but that doesn’t mean anything only if Halos price drops its dying… Things do go on sale and off sale. Granted I will admit I thought I would nvr see a price drop on COD, Halo sure, money milking, but the newest COD has nvr gone on sale during the holidays… I don’t think thats dying.

When bungie’s new game comes out I’m leaving halo behind.

just do what bf3 did stick a map pass in there bam insta price raise bf3 went from 30 to 60 like that

Turns out there’s already a discussion on the death of Halo over here.
So I’m just going to ask everyone moe-zee on over there and keep the talk going OK?
