I dont understand why people are saying that the new enemy is of a forerunner construct, why in hell would the forerunners attack they’re own descendants. not to mention it’s just a ship there, it doesnt mean its an enemy because remember it’s been 500 years since the Chief was frozen so it could be the UNSC with new technology right?
Actually its been 5 years. I really don’t think it is the forerunners.
Humans aren’t Forerunner descendants.
I didn’t know we were playing as a 500+ years old atlethic super soldier, lol.
4, almost 5 years since chief was “frozen” or put into cryogenic sleep, not 500.
Humans are not the descendents of the forerunners. Humans were to take there place when they left.
was it 5 years? i could’ve sworn it said 500 XD, fair enough i admit that mistake and i thought that the humans were basically forerunners but you know…in like a different life lol

Did you know that the Humans and Forerunner went to war before?

i didnt actually no, have you got a link or something so i can read about it? preferably would be a good idea because then i wouldnt look like such an idiot XD
Its been 4 years but anyway I agree with you. Forerunners are not new in the least, we’ve just never met one. And I doubt that they would attack the very beings that they passed their legacy onto. If there are live Forerunners in the game I can only see them assisting you. And SPOILER ALERT! In Halo Primordium, one of the Precursors(Creators of Humans, Elites, Forerunners and so forth) Explained to the Didact that the flood were the Forerunners test, and they failed. It explained that Humans were to take their place in the galaxy and that one day they too would be tested. Whatever this new enemy is it was probably sent by the Precursors which live for a very long time, longer than Forerunners (Who in their suits were able to like tens of thousands of years and that wasn’t even that old for them. You usually didn’t hear of a Forerunner death unless they were killed. Anyway this new enemy will most likely be something completely new.

It’s part of the Forerunner Trilogy by Greg Bear. I suggest that you read them. They’re really good and give a great insight to the history of humanity and the Forerunner.
I would advise the OP to read the Forerunner Saga Book’s, Cryptum and Primordium, especially Primordium as it does give some insight into the background (still worth reading Cryptum so you dont feel a little lost from starting with Primordium).
Good read’s to be honest and i’m not a very big reader in general.
Personally i highly doubt it’s the Forerunner’s and hopefully not simply an AI construct as the ‘Big Bad Mo’thugger™’.

Did you know that the Forerunners regretted the war and what they did to Humans once they learned that we were trying to escape the Flood?
Judging by the concept art in the concept art slideshow that 343i gave us in which there was that creepy image at the end, as well as the description of Precursors in Halo Lore, I believe our unknown and much more deadly enemies shall come to be the Precursors.

That’s a huge generalisation you just made there, and I’m sure you know enough to know that not all the Forerunner felt that way.

These forums (fora?) have spoiler tags, y’know.
Btw, The Timeless One wasn’t a Precursor. It was a Gravemind. Made of Precursor bodies, if I’m not mistaken.

Sorry don’t use the forums enough to learn these kinds of things. And while it wasn’t a true precursor since it was a gravemind it would have known all that the precursors that made it up knew so its account still stands.

While it was a generalisation if you think about it the forerunners who may have survived after the Halos were fired would have cooperated with the Didact who through his authority and reputation may have made such regrets mutual to remaining forerunners. Another generalisation based on theory but if you think about it it may hold true.

True enough.
Humans are not decedents of the Forerunners and the Master Builder doesn’t like Humans.
