I believe it’s a fine fix for now and I’m confident positive changes will continue to come. For now I will enjoy what is offered and play for the gameplay with friends.
XP for game performance would be awesome as incentive to do well, play objectives, and focus on team play.
Weeklies can be an issue, but I challenge swapped a couple that seemed too random to achieve, stronghold matches played for example. Do you propose a change to weeklies to share similarities with Destiny challenges? I personally think the weeklies are fine as long as I have challenge swaps for the ridiculous challenges. Which the event and season pass have an abundance of haha… another issue for another thread.
Also if the main incentive to play is progression, which is ultimately for customization, would you be happier playing if there was more customization offered early in the game?

True, an overhaul on the current system may be so drastic and still leave some players angry.

Ah yes, love waiting 9 months for proper ranks and progression
It sucks yea but thats whats going to happen.
Shouldnt have been this way in the first place, dont understand how they got this so wrong
I think that they know that that can’t happen. It’s why they’ve changed things twice in three weeks. I don’t think that there is a chance that it is ready for launch but I would not be surprised if in a couple of weeks that this system has been overhauled.

The fact that they changed the xp payout from the 50XP per match to 300XP (albeit with diminishing returns with each match) means that they are in fact listening, to an extent. The thing about feedback is that I needs to be consistent, continuous, and formed from a consensus. Otherwise, we’re not likely to get any significant changes to the way the game functions.
This is definitely a step in the right direction. Now we need more radical steps, and I have some proposals that I would like to share.
-
Add 50 additional XP for winning a match.
-
In addition to the first step, allow for XP to be earned based on the amount medals earned in a matchmade game in all game modes.
-
Allow us to select which game modes we want to play, whether that’s slayer, CTF, etc.
-
MAKE THE SHOP ITEMS CHEAPER!
-
Allow for armor coatings (the colors) and visors be used for all three cores whenever a coating or visor is unlocked.
I’m sure other people may have more ideas as to what improvements can be put in place, but I would still suggest making these kinds of post, reach out to big youtubers to complain about these issues, it does work. We just have to push the momentum.

Everyone knows it cant happen like that, the game will be dead.
This fix needs to happen ASAP, it need to go right to the top right next to playlists MTX and customization, otherwise this game is going to follow the exact same decline that 5 suffered
What upsets me is that campaign dlc is almost certainly taking a hit from all these fixes, dont expect any of those anytime soon while they try to fix the broken mess that is multiplayer, especially with everything else missing, like assassinations (i dont know how theyre gonna do that in a timely manner since they need not only spartan v spartan ones but spartan vs banished one for the campaign)
They have been receptive to feedback and willing to change which I’m happy about. Halo is now a free to play game as a live service, which is a new model to Halo so I understand the growing pains. Gameplay is amazing and I look forward to more positive changes.
Seriously! Armor coatings and visors would offer a lot more customization options!
Live service is not new to halo, halo 5 was entirely based upon live service. Every mistake they made with 5 is repeating here, the only “new” stuff here is the addition of a store function and thats it. Halo has been a live service since mcc, there is no growing pains because no growth has happened yet.
They are listening which does matter, but 343 have a habit of only responding to issues that they find to be issues, if they can say that its “split” or the data doesnt represent the community then its most likely not getting fixed.
No one is arguing that the gameplay sucks, everyone is on the same page about that, its everything else the game offers right now and down the path
A live service game is a game that sees a constant stream of new content added, and is designed to be played years after launch. I don’t believe Halo 5 was modeled as a live service, but maybe that’s because I didn’t play any longer after a year. Sure MCC has a steady stream of “new” content, but that also includes older games, maps, armors, etc of the previous games. I believe Halo Infinite is a fresh start and 343’s opportunity to solidify their footing and craft Halo the way they want.
However, I agree there are issues with progression, reward, and early customization options. If more customization was offered early in game, would you be happier?
I think an easy start is allowing armor coatings anf visors to be used for all cores.
I would be happy if we werent repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
And yes halo 5 was a live service, it launched barebones with the promise of co tent coming later in its life cycle, which took almost 3-4 years to get all of it.
Yes i would be happy with more customization, everyone would, its clear cross core armour visors and coatings are possible because the bots use them all the time, it almost seems as easy as a flick of a switch to fix it, but there needs to be customization without the paywall, purchases should be ADDITIONS, not the base content launched with.
Its very disheartening knowing that 90% of mk7 is store purchases

Or just do away with XP altogether.
- 10 Generic challenges per week, each challenge instantly progresses a tier upon completion
- Ultimate challenge given after 10 challenges are cleared, rewards cosmetic.
- Each player has their internal Challenge counter. Upon completing X challenges, they are allowed to choose a cosmetic of their choice from previously missed Ultimate weeklies.
Event armors and Mk VII armors are PURELY FREE AND UNLOCAKBLE.
Special armors like Season Pass armors and other legacy armors are store bought IN PIECES, NOT AS A SET.
