This new daily system won't solve the underlaying issues with the xp system as a whole

Title really says it all. Sure, it’ll feel better to get more xp, but that’s not really the problem. The problem is weeklies, and how they feel unrewarding, random and frustrating. In a lot of ways, the problem with the challenge system isn’t even the challenges themselves, but the lack of playlists. Give us a normal amount of playlists (or the match composer from MCC, ideally) and that would solve a lot of the issues.

Secondly, I think that the xp per game going down is probably not going to feel great. I think that something along the lines of; 100xp per game, but with a new, daily, one-time, challenge of playing 3 games that rewards an additional 350xp would feel a lot better and add some consistency to the overall system.

EDIT: what this new daily system is doing feels like they are trying to bury the issue. Weeklies are still going to cause people to leave games if they do not get the right game type, encourage players to pursue challenges instead of contribute to the team, and cause general frustration.

EDIT #2: the problem with this new system is that it is going to feel like it is punishing you for playing too much instead of rewarding you for playing to begin with. I know that right now games give out 50xp per game, but when they start giving out 300, 200, or 100 it’s going to feel like once you get back to the 50xp per game that you are being punished. MMOs have been dealing with this kind of stuff for decades now. It’ll feel so much better to have a consistent amount of xp per game with easy to accomplish dailies on top of that.

XP rewarded for playing good and winning. End of story thats literally it.

No incentive to play good or win a match at this point people are afk with no kills and get the same xp as someone who really tried hard to win the game and got loads of headshots an triple kills.

Whats is the point in trying its just terrible

Its like all you read was one part of the message from Uny. And didn’t read anything else of what he had to say. If you did, this post wouldn’t be needed.

I did read the whole thing, and I understand that more fixes are coming. I just want this to be fixed ASAP as to not drive more people away from the game. I want Infinite to succeed, and a daily system that feels like it is punishing you, even if it is giving out more xp overall is not going to keep people around. Like I said in one of my edits, MMOs have been dealing with this stuff for years, and have settled on a system where you get rewarded for playing a certain amount of games and not punished after playing too many.

Its like you expect literally everything in 1 day. You do know what reality is like right?

I agree with you and think that ideally what you are talking about is put in place instead of a flat per match amount of xp. But they should still have challenges that reset daily that reward you for “playing 3 games” or “win a game”

What are you talking about? They have already “fixed” the daily system twice, with neither feeling ideal.

Well idk about neither of the 2, this most recent (the 2nd) is better than before and just a temp fix. So idk what kind of world you live in where changes come super quick.

That’s part of the point of my post. It’s not better. Sure, it gives out more xp, but that’s not the only thing that a challenge/progression system is there for. It is primarily designed to increase player engagement. Lowering the amount of xp per game earned will feel like it is punishing you for playing too long. That is not ideal.

It’s a band-aid on a bullet wound, but it’s better than nothing. It’ll tide us over until they can do something larger and, in the meantime, we can still be giving our honest and respectful opinions on the matter until they do.

As a lifelong Halo fan, I will hold them accountable for this MTX trainwreck and press for changes.

I would like to know what kind of plans they have for a their fixes that they working on, but its porbably still in an infancy stage. I don’t like the current system, but at least its much better than it was and will make progression a lot less tiresome until they have a more permanent fix.

We have to give kudos where it is due, 343i has made more of an effort to compromise and be transparent in the last 2 weeks, than any game company has in the last decade.

They know it doesn’t solve the problem. They’ve literally just gotten back from a holiday weekend. Give them some time. They’re trying to give us something to help while they overhaul the system. You’re just going to have to be patient.

“Give them some time”
“Be patient”

Man if only people would stop using this excuse, the fact they planned to release this system they knew it was bad when they had 6 years to get things right says a lot. People shouldnt stop to give feedback and voice their opinions until 343 properly adresses and acknowledge the real issue.

These kind of “fixes” are just bandaids that dont solve the core of the problem.

more playlist, that’s what we need

The new system isn’t meant to be a overall fix, they’ve said as much, I don’t know where you’ve found the expectation that it is supposed to be a long term fix…

This is a temporary solution whilst they build up a better progression system - it takes time.

There’s is no resort where 343i can just pump out a new progression & challenge system in the spot.

The new daily system is a hot patch. Its not permanent. We’re going to have a rough start from Pre-launch to Launch. The new progression system will probably be here by next season. For now we might just get monthly tweaks on it to make this rough patch slightly more bearable.

Play the game for fun maybe?

Nobody said this would fix all the issues…

Sometimes, when my kids ask me for a drink (or treat, or whatever) and I say sure, then when I don’t get it for them as fast as they think I should they throw a little tantrum and whine. You know what happens? They don’t get a thing, and usually end up in their room in trouble.

They know that this is a quick fix. Larger changes will take time. Changes to some things may create incentives for players to play or act differently.

There are questions that need to be answered when overhauling something like this. Rewarding XP for performance, for example. What counts as “performance”? Does it change depending on what mode you’re playing? Is it just a percentage of your score you see on the scoreboard? Should we heavily reward players who play the objective? Or will that encourage toxic behavior? Will you splatter your teammate who has with the flag/let them die to enemy fire so you can pick it up and potentially score, getting yourself a good chunk of XP? Does giving more XP for winning encourage toxic behavior that the devs don’t want in the community, and overall sweaty behavior that the devs don’t want to see outside of Ranked?

My opinion is that 343i is looking at this like “We don’t want people playing a Slayer playlist nonstop while other modes languish, we don’t want players griefing to pad out their XP, and we don’t want to foster a toxic community where casual matches have people getting yelled at for not playing ‘correctly’ like this is a MOBA.”
