343i, why is the word gay being censored in team chat? Orientations aren’t cuss words, like will I get censored if I say trans rights?

Happy Pride everyone, but sorry 343 as a Floridian this ‘don’t say gay’ stuff hits close too home for me personally. I do hope the cuss words are updated over time because it was obnoxious to bump into this during Swatnums (I don’t care if it’s called Tactical Slayer now and they’re Sidekicks it’s still Swatnums to me)

In an online gaming community, it was more often than not used as a derogatory insult more so than actually talking about gay people. I think it can be looked at both ways. It seems like it could be demeaning for some, but it could also be seen as a sign of respect for the gay community that the word gay cant be used negatively. I mean its an online video game. It has history. I personally dont think it should be censored in this day and age, but i understand why it is. Maybe itll change one day.

Honestly I would put the same thing backwards.
Why shouldn’t?
Anyway putting aside the politics stuff, which the technically the title of the bill as almost nothing to do with the bill itself.

  1. Probably censored to avoid people insulting various community, where you see censorship they see a way to protect.
    I won’t judge their decision.
  2. It’s a game, in 99% of cases that word is not useful/without a purpose in the game.
    Most people that would use that word will probably just use it as an insult.

I hope this clears things up(btw before someone goes on me, I’m gay, even tho it shouldn’t matter).

This is equivalent to someone complaining that the Spanish word for the color black is being censored.
It has more than one meaning thanks to cultural norms and thus, it is censored because of the negative connotations it is often used for.

I think the censorship is way too overzealous so much things get caught in the censors you’d imagine you’re reading Noble 6’s service record. Like I have no clue why numbers are easily censored if anything the list of numbers that get censored should be rather small if you’re trying to prevent things like 69 or 80085.

Each Fractures is a separate universe where the Human-Covenant War gets remixed in some way.

Tenrai was Samurais vs Alien Invaders.

Entrenched is somewhat akin to Warhammer, what with it being Dieselpunk Supersoldiers vs. Aliens that have “Arcanotechnology”

Can’t wait to see us finally getting a Space Cowboy Fractures.

I used June pride emblem & changed service tag to GAY (which was allowed)
Now my service tag at start of game during fire team intro is not shown nor shown during rest of game.

Edit: I’m not gay but have many friends who are & it’s my way a showing I don’t give a damm about their orientation & support them & also after seeing the amount of immature salty posts on twitter about the June background (I’m not playing this game this month blah blah blah!) I thought I’m gonna rock this in support & enjoy the baby tears it may cause.
Should see my inbox for the H8 mail it’s caused.
Halo community should hang its head in shame!

If seeing the word gay so easily offend offends then the real issue lies within those so easily offended & they should not be pandered too.
If the halo community cant handle the word gay when used in a supporting manner or as a title then well that really speaks volumes about this community & it needs to do a whole lot of growing up.
