So overall the game has been really good but the one thing that’s holding it back from being my second favorite halo game. And that is the fact that the new guns introduced instead of just being added in along with the guns that were previously always in the halo games they replace them.
One gun that was not added back was the OG shotgun whenever I think about halo I think about two things the BR (thankfully they did not replace this) the OG shotgun and combining it with with a beat down or even better 1 shotting my opponent.
There are plenty more examples (commando over DMR) that I can think of but this is the big one for me. I would like the bulldog and the new weapons to be included but not to replace the OG weapons with all the maps being added I really think it is possible to fit them all in. Doing what 343 did frankly just makes me not like the new inclusions even if some of them are fun to use.
Halo infinite is sort of supposed to be a new meets old game and most of the good parts of the old was the guns and it feels like more of the new is replacing the old.
What do you guys think about this? Should the old guns go in order to make room for the new guns? Or should they be included alongside? Halo infinite was said was going to be a huge live service platform for many years to come so obviously they have time to add these guns back?
Edit: Also please bring back the snapshot medal idk who wanted no scope over snapshot
The original shotgun is coming back and so is the Magnum. I can’t speak for the DMR though, seems like the commando is a DMR but faster and with heavier recoil to compensate
Agreed, I’m still hoping that because the Bulldog is so different from the traditional shotgun there is a chance the original shotgun will still be in the game as a higher damage / shorter range variant.

The new weapons feel like they fit in Halo. Do some of them need further balancing? Of course. The new weapons have a specific role and a purpose. Past Halo guns that were on the maps were sometimes useless and just filler. The Bulldog will get the love it needs and the fans will voice their opinion until it does.
This Halo feels like a great blend of old and new. I feel like people are searching for memories when they think of the old gameplay and that just won’t come back. As a person who prefers classic this game is a giant cake with a mountain of whipped cream.

Oh thank god I had heard a couple of months ago it wasn’t coming back and I was shook

I’m glad to hear your enjoying it man even if a lot of those guns were filler I:E anything that was not a BR at the time I still would want my cake and eat it too tbh. It’s sort of a case of why not both for me?

Guns used to fill like they were filler in the past I meant. The commando felt like the perfect Halo weapon. Do you disagree?

All I’ve ever seen is Quinn say he wants to bring them back through DLC at some point. That’s not real confirmation though right?
I do think we’re going to end up having a lot more classic guns available at launch than we’re expecting though. Iyer seems like they’ve been pretty careful about what their sharing other than the spoilers in the flight code. As someone who manages a code tree and from observing the sheer breadth of content in the Infinite flight (not even the full game!) I’m not even remotely surprised some spoilers ended up in the files.
Tbf, I think if 343 weren’t in a remote work situation the spoilers might have been caught before release.

Honestly I don’t like it, I’ve gotten better with it and can use it very well but it sometimes replaces the BR and It restricts the way I want to play and feels unsatisfactory to me. On top of that when I was playing PvP yesterday it was almost impossible to hit a 7 shot on a competent opponent that knew how to strafe and dance around cover at least on console. For the Xbox one

343 is pretty dang good about listening to the community though, they said from the go-get that they knew we’d miss the Magnum and Shotgun. That was over a year ago, i’m, sure if they wanted to add them they’ve had plenty of time. Even if not they could add it in the first DLC or expansion shortly after launch.

You have to play with it and see how it’s used a little bit more maybe. 3-4 shot bursts feels sooo good with it.

See but then you end up losing to a skilled player that can use the sidekick well and almost perfect you with it if you don’t spray so it puts u in a bad spot.
Idk why you’re titling a post “This Makes Halo Infinite Suck” when in your very first sentence you’re claiming that the game has been “really good” so far. The title implies some kind of deeply routed flaw in the foundation of the game, and then when I go in to see what the fuss about, it’s just another post lamenting the exclusion of traditional weapons. So to write the entire game off just because some classic weapons aren’t here yet seems pretty ridiculous to me.
Yes, the classic weapons like the OG shotgun should be there alongside the new ones, that’s not a new criticism. But in time, they will make their return, I’m sure of it. This was also just a technical preview and not indicative of the full sandbox- for all we know there could be a Banished or Covenant version of the shotgun in the game that they just didn’t reveal yet. It’s not worth the uproar, trust me.

Commando TTK is shorter than the side kick for sure.

The for sure but the sidekick is easier to hit all your bullets with though than the commando on console at least idk about MnK
