I don’t remember ever having the ability to choose a loadout in Halo 3. I don’t remember being able to become a high rank in Halo 2 because I played for 10 days. I don’t remember having perks that I unlocked in any game either.
I understand that the game needs to change, and I don’t think anyone is against change, but this is Halo 4, not Halo: Reach 2. The reason why the general community is against perks, and unlockables that alter gameplay is because it threatens balance. Every game before Halo: Reach worked fine with armor abilities, perks, and unlockables, so why add them at all?
343 has a team of over 200 people working on this game, so why not add some original innovation instead of adding something that is so similar to perks, people are already calling it that? I thought Halo was a game that was supposed to set the bar for other games, not just rip off other ideas because it’s the “in” thing.
Everyone wants change, and innovation. But load outs, and perks aren’t original or innovative, they’re just beating a dead horse.
You’ve stated that the game isn’t Halo: Reach 2, but you seem to think it’s Halo 3: Part 2. The reason it’s called “Halo 4” is simply for the sake of continuity; it represents the beginning of a new trilogy, and could just as easily be called “Reclaimer”.

What changes that are original and innovative do you suggest they include?

I don’t have any ideas to add to innovation. I’m not claiming to either. But does that mean they should just use other games ideas…?
They aren’t just stealing ideas, people are just assuming that the so-called “perks” will function the same way as other games, and that load outs will work like other games. Anything they do could be considered “stealing” from other games.

the media that saw, or heard, about the “perks” system compared it to the perks system of call of duty, so it must be easily compared to it.
Frankie already said that they arent going to be “perks”, and that they are not CoD rip offs. How is it that you feel compelled to judge them and label them when we know NOTHING about them, let alone how they work?

Perks is just a general term that spawned from COD. They most likely used it to provide something to compare whatever is in Halo 4 too. That doesn’t mean they are similar. “Abilities” would have been a far better word for them to use.

Because the media compared them to it. If they didn’t look like perks, they wouldn’t have called them that.
I promise you that any game that is using sprint or “special abilities” today has borrowed the concept from one or more games whose names have long since passed out of memory.

The same could be said for guns. I could say that the BR is like the Famas from Modern Warfare 2 because it looked like it.
I don’t understand how people can be so angry about things like your armor affecting the gameplay and custom loadouts if we know almost nothing about them…

also lets say you are a website owner or such. you get two options for headline.
Detailed Explanation of Halo “Perks” System
Halo copying off CoD?!?
Now being a business man, which one would you pick. Option 2, more people would check it out
It isn’t Halo 3.5 either but it seems to be what everyone wants. If people like you are in charge of crafting the Halo series, then I’m done with Halo. Reach can be that strong note to go out on.
Also, in regards to your comment on ranking high in 10 days.
There is a daily credit cap for a reason.
There was originally a rank cap.
I managed to go from 1 to 38 in Lone Wolves in Halo 3 in 11 days. It took me 22 days to get to Lt. Colonel in Reach. What was that about not ranking up really high in 10 days?
Why are you guys ripping him? He may have some invalid comments but he’s right it’s not reach 2 its halo 4 it should not even look like reach and alot of the community call the so called armor enhancers or whatever you call them perks so he just see’s it as it is stop acting all happy joy over the little parts of reach that will be in H4 i mean really do you want halo to die. You say you will buy it I will too but if its like reach it will go down the drain just like reach did then there really won’t be a point to making 5 or 6 (yes i know we haven’t seen that much gameplay but we are just trying to make sure it dosen’t get turned into that clutter tuck(on purpose) called reach(you don’t believe reach is dead your a fool) no offence to the actual smart peps you know who you are

-Reach isn’t dead because people are still playing it.
-I don’t want Halo to die as much as the next hardcore fan, but our opinions may be different.
-No one is telling him not to worry. He certainly has a reason to after the media’s misinterpretation on the so called “perks.” Most of the people are telling him to wait until more information on these (misused) “perks” are unveiled before getting too worried.
-Just because something that was used in Reach is in Halo 4 (sprint, loadouts) doesn’t mean it will crash and burn. The games are (in some ways) going to play differently.
