The Xbox 360 is 7-8 years old. The graphics in Halo 4 are already pushing the console to it’s limit as 343 has said. The new Unreal 4 engine would kill the graphics card thats already installed in the Xbox. If Crysis 3 were to be played at the highest settings on a PC but on an Xbox, it would possibly overload the graphics card that the 360 has.
Point I’m making. 343 doesn’t possess the technology to create a Far Cry-like map editor for Halo. Bungie didn’t have access to it either, if they did, I’m sure Halo 3’s Forge would have been better.
Halo 4 has 3 different Forge Worlds. Each of them has a pallete specific to that world. Impact is a Space themed map. How are adding different textures or different colors to objects on impact going to have any effect if you decide to add Special FX like you could in Reach and then not even be able to see the textures or the colors. What good is that going to do? The multiplayer disc is already 8GIGS worth of space. Adding textures and colors would mean having more data being put on a disc and then we would have three discs, Campaign, Multiplayer and Forge, bit complex don’t you think?
What does it matter if the Forge objects are white? Is it going to inable you from Forging a map? People made great maps on Reach regardless.
We should be appeciative, we’re getting three Forge World maps, and that we’re getting different objects specific to each Forge World. We have more options then we had in Reach’s Forge, even more then what we had in Reach’s Forge, I should say.

You’re point? If Bungie didn’t have access to the tech when they left Microsoft, what makes you think 343 will have access to it? The Game Devs of Far Cry created the tech. Not Microsoft

It’s called upgrade, 2012 almost 2013, getting with the times, innovation, hard work, and persistence

Halo 4 will make more money than far cry 3 which has a superior map editor.
it isn’t about graphical quality, its about wanting a more versitle editor which they are capable of doing on the 360 with forge because it won’t fry the GPU.
I hope forge will be up to speed in Halo 5 otherwise I’d de a little dissapointed again, but theres always Matchmaking and campaign except I stay more for custom games than Matchmaking.
> I hope forge will be up to speed in Halo 5 otherwise I’d de a little dissapointed again, but theres always multiplayer and campaign except I stay more for custom games than multiplayer.
You’re referring to Matchmaking. Custom Games are a component of multiplayer.

I don’t think its matchmaking anymore its called war games or something, it seems like an unneeded change like snapshot instead of no scope.

Functionally, it’s still a matchmaking system, and I’ve called it Matchmaking since Halo 2. I’m not like to change now.

They’re just meaningless name changes. They’re still the same things.
Map editor in halo…
Pros:
Better customization options for maps
Better built maps from pro forgers
Less repetitive backgrounds
Cons:
Major intimidation
Horrible terrain designs
Possibly more texture errors
takes longer to make a map
Not in space
No caves
More memory required
two things I would do if this were to be introduced
have some premade forge maps for new forgers
put the map editor on a 3rd disk
While a map editor would be nice, I prefer the current forge system because its much less intimidating and is much more user friendly. Also, I like my caves over rolling hills. Generally, I agree with Op
