I don’t think that it’s arena play, or the amount of changes made to core gameplay. I think it is Custom Games. When I think about how popular Halo 3 and Reach were (The former more so than the latter) I can only think of how much fun their custom games were. The amount of clever maps and gametypes made for both of these games was outstanding. I am still having an awesome time on MCC with customs. Halo 4 lacked a lot of custom options, and another thing I think really messed up 4 and 2A is lack of movable objects. A lot of the fun from customs in 3 and Reach was moving barricades in Fat Kid, and blowing up bridges.
I think 343 should not forget that a good file share system and cutsom games options are just as important as a balanced sandbox.

I think that neglecting customs will put a serious damper on the game.

That is much better wording, anyways, I see what you’re saying but 343 has been hurting the playerbase quite a bit since HTT ended. No split-screen, no elites, no firefight, no spartan ops.
On the other thing they have given us FREE MAPS, Warzone, a great hype-train, and a very deep story.
The only problem is the fact that they have ignored the former things and have given us quite meaningless responses. The things that they have taken away were 1st of all, already there so shouldn’t have been taken away and 2nd of all they have been asked and begged for, some since 2012, and the excuses for not adding them are once again not up to par with what are acceptable reasons.

OP has a good point. If the game has a lack of custom options it will hurt it a bit i believe.

This is why I’m not buying the game.
The local play games of yore are gone. I’d rather spend my money on something that will offer a deeper 1 player experience (fallout 4) if I’m going to be playing alone.
