This is the most predatory monetisation scheme in a long time

It’s literally Master Chief’s helmet, you know the main character

i hate that this is the direction 343 wants to take this games monetization

Right. You’d rather go back to the days in which you have to pay for map packs, which splits the player base, for no other reason than “I don’t like when people who aren’t me spend money on cosmetic only items”

Yeah, very popular. You know Mickey Mouse merchandise makes a lot of money for Disney, yeah? Are you against companies monetizing merchandise?

New maps created after launch because of the games sales vs stuff made for the game to last a year and be sold off to maximize profits along side the release of the highly coveted campaign
Id take the maps packs if it meant i get a full game on day one with all the content at my finger tips

Oh please no. I am so happy to be past the days of MAP PACKS. Constantly being mocked for being poor in the customs lobbies and then engaging in that same toxic behavior, It’s gotten far better when it’s just cosmetics.

Terrible analogy. Last I checked every video game with Mickey Mouse let’s you play as Mickey Mouse.

And how many Halo games let you play as Halo?

Right. You’ve got the entire multiplayer experience for free. They budgeted a ton of cash to make a bunch of maps, animations, armor sets, server infrastructure, etc. That cost is offloaded via MTX instead of an upfront cost. And?

Id take the maps packs if it meant i get a full game on day one with all the content at my finger tips

Of course you would. Because this isn’t actually about spending money or predatory practices. You just have a bias against MTX and you’d be willing to split the playerbase over it.

Kingdome Hearts is not called “Mickey Mouse”, yet he’s one of the main characters. You’re going off on some tangent. :joy:

Nice non argument, if you dont care about this stiff whats the point of coming to this thread? To argue with people who dont like this choice? Genuinely curious what you hope to achieve posting here

I don’t have a vendetta. You’re posting things that I disagree with and, frankly, half of what you said just doesn’t make sense. So I’m replying. You can just stop replying anytime. “What is your vendetta against me man???”

Edit: Well 343 won’t let me reply anymore since I hit my cap. Guess I’ll edit this-

There’s literally two options:

  1. Free to play with microtransactions to support development
  2. Pay to play with DLC map packs to support development (this fragments the player base)

You’ve been very vocal that you hate MTX and you want option 2.

You’ll excuse a scummy manipulative system because it doesnt effect you

Explain how selling cosmetics is scummier than selling map packs that customers MUST purchase if they want to play specific game modes with their friends

I am. I think your argument is just silly. I don’t think by buying a Halo game you are owed any armor piece for your multiplayer spartan.

I thought their argument was silly. We’re all having fun here.

What?! Bro you think you know me and what i think now? This system is scummy, and they banked on the customization to sell the multiplayer to people and locked it behind expensive -Yoink!- mtx

Sorry but horrible take, even if just for fun.

I’m sorry it offended you, but can you actually argue with the logic though?

Nothing i said makes sense? Because these things dont matter to you? You’ll excuse a scummy manipulative system because it doesnt effect you, perfect for you man, disagree all you want it doesnt make it not scummy

It being logical is what makes it worse imo
“Do i give the fan what it wants because they stuck around for 20 years and bought the game, or do i sell it to them because i know most of them will begrudgingly buy it because they hold the series so dear”

The obvious choice is clearly the latter. If I’m a business woman I’d have to be a little dumb not to pick the latter option. You don’t get Disney rich by making friends with every Tom, -Yoink!- and Harry that think Mickey Mouse is neat.

EDIT: I think it’s cute that Waypoint censors the nickname for Richard.
