This is the most predatory monetisation scheme in a long time

You asked us how much the battle pass should be and I broke it down for you. Yet, you continue to defend a crappy battle pass system without any real reason. Did you forget about the comment you made?

When you can actually come up with some reasons why it’s not scummy business practice to get more money out of your average gamer. When you can easily explain how your average adult with actual Bill’s can constantly afford the battle pass and all the skins they’re going to be making as it is which btw only requires a few people of the team to make not the entire development team like the game. Plus they’ve already got us as free beta testers and bug reporters

I agree. Bungies Destiny 2 loot crates was basically a lousy slot machine that encourages gambling. EA’s battle pass is highly predatory. Halo’s is neither.

With that said, still wish we got match XP based on medals or something.

Bro, no. It makes no sense. The fact that the first season runs for 6 months is a really dumb decision that again, no game does. 3 months is fine. They did this to cover themselves. They know most people want to complete the battle pass fast, so now, they can just use “the season is 6 months” as an excuse to get people to buy skips and XP tokens. I’m mot opposed to it taking longer, as long as it doesn’t take forever. I played for 10 HOURS and only got to lvl 6 in the BP. That means it will take roughly 160 hours to complete the BP. Not everyone has that much time. You should receive atleast 100 XP per game. This would leviate most of my gripe with the game. That said, preferably, they also add like atleast 3 daily challenges, so that there’s a constant total of 4 daily challenges instead of 1. After you’ve finished all your weekly’s and your ultimate, it just feels like you’re not progressing at all. Again, like I said, I’m fine with challenges but there should be a constant flow of XP sp that you don’t feel like you’re playing for nothing

I’m gonna be honest; I’m not going to go through all 100+ comments to see what everyone THINKS the buy in point for the game should be. Look, Halo is Microsoft’s flagship game. When MOST people think Microsoft/Xbox they probably think Halo, Forza, or Gears of War.

For the last 20 years Halo has come in a complete package of $60 + tax to include paid DLC later on. The full package contained campaign, MP, and other additions that came later in the franchise (such as FF).

I understand the the comments people make about inflation so naturally games shouldn’t remain at $60. I remember when console games were $50 on average. I would be willing to pay an adjusted price for games now.

When I replied to your comment asking what I think would be a reasonable price it came out to about $80. Hell, for Halo, I’d be willing to pay $100 for a flat rate of Campaign, MP, a non predatory battle pass with tons of customization that you can use interchangeably with your Spartan. And if you think $100 is dirt cheap for a game then you’re crazy.

However, that is NOT what we have.

And they called me a madman when I said it was bad that Halo Infinite multiplayer was free

THANK YOU!

I understand that it’s F2P, but this is crazy. The $20 armor set for the same armor you’d get right away in a normal halo game (nothing special) is crazy. I went in knowing I would buy the battle pass and probably a few cosmetics if they are reasonably priced. This is insane. Everyone looks the same because all the armor is behind a HUGE paywall.

Yeah my biggest annoyance here is the fact that I can’t mix and match anything with it being locked behind an armor kit or core. It’s just silly to pay $20 for something you can’t even customize or use the coating you bought on anything else. I would be so much happier if they changed this.

Congratulations. You are a prophet

Nice non argument, no, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything, unless you wanna customize your spartan, like you could for free in literally every other halo game in existence.
Its the stripping and selling back of features that were previously free thats got everyone up in arms.
Halo customization is important, this games multiplayer tagline is literally to “become your own spartan” but thats pretty difficult when 343 wants every nickle and dime for us to do so

Yeah this is really scummy. I was worried about this but this is honestly worse than I thought it was gonna be. I cannot express how disappointed I am.

Originally I was gonna buy the battlepass thinking it would give me access to all the customization options. I figured since it’s free to play paying even 60 bucks for the customization would be fair enough but twenty dollars for one armor set? This is predatory…this is so anti consumer. It’s honestly disgusting I didn’t think 343 could stoop this low. Not to mention the campaign is gonna be 60 dollars by itself…it better be one extensive campaign. If it isn’t I’m not buying it. This has gone too far. I mean Halo has always been a huge thing in my life, this hurts almost on a personal level.

I predicted this happening the moment the game was announced as f2p.

I don’t have a problem throwing devs 10€ every now and then for the new content in the free game and continuous support/updates.

It would have gotten those anyways, this is halo, not some new title trying to make a name for itself, this game is funded by microsoft of all companys, moneys not an issue until it comes to making more of it.
The game was made free to play so they could cash in on free games making billions on skins like apex legends, this game would have received new content and updates just like halo 5 did with its “free dlc” which was actually just content not finished yet drip fed to us through out two years

Here’s the thing.

I would pay for this Multiplayer. I quite enjoy it. So far it’s fun and I’m sure with feedback and additions its only going to get more fun. That’s great.

However, the Battle Pass is actually making me not want to pay for it. Why? Because it doesn’t seem fun to me to have to grind through the Battle Pass to unlock things by doing challenges. I just want to play the game. Even way back in Reach the Credits system sucked to grind through, it was awful, and this seems even worse (is there even a targetor strat to farm XP in this? I think not).

If i could just pay $25 to have all my cosmetics unlocked, I’d probably do that. I’d feel that $25 is a more than fair price to pay for this game’s multiplayer, and would likely even buy whichever of the next passes has the Security Officer helmet too. As it stands though, I do not want to pay $25 to unlock the ability to grind challenges. That’s just not fun for me.

But you can also pay for boosts!

Nah, you know how many boosts it’d take to finish the pass and the cost of that? That’s way too much.

It’s nice that they made this F2P, and I’d gladly pay them some money for cosmetics. What I don’t want to pay money for is the experience of feeling like any game that I’m not completing a challenge directly is wasted time. To be quite genuinely frank and honest, I would actually rather just have ALL cosmetics in a shop where I can just buy whatever helmet I want for $2 or whatever. If it’s F2P, I can put the money I would have spent on buying the game into getting neat armors, I’m cool with that.

Anybody considered just playing the game and not spending money?

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you need to hyperboil it into stew. You do realize you can vocalize an issue normally without dramatizing it or making it into clickbait right?

*They literally said it’s still being worked on and they already mad adjustments to it during the flights.
*There’s a bunch of duplicate threads and the entire gaming news industry has already posted about how this is a WIP.
*It’s a Beta/soft launch

Some of us care about the customization so a straight free to play well guess I should just go back to call of duty then huh I come to halo for the story and customization. I’ve paid for every dlc I bought the legendary halo reach edition with the figurine I bought halo 4 day 1 after 343 took over giving them a chance and it wasnt bad but I didnt need a love story between chief and Cortana followed by a game that had no idea what it wanted to be due to customer feedback. Now we have this battle pass. Not against the battle pass but the inability to earn your premium currency back when that’s the industry standard it’s going to catch you severe backlash

The game is free…so, there’s that
