Oh how I wish I could be 15 again
Funny you say 15 because that’s the age group most likely to believe they can’t control their spending.
Not so much that they are gameplay in every game but in halo I will agree cosmetics have been the entire base of the game after halo 2.
4 and 5 did atrocious work to the armors in my opinion like none of them looked good none of them they were way to flashy and whatnot none of which were really practical to wear. Bungie had cosmetics right 343 found a great earning system for them in mcc but I agree whole heartedly with the OG author this system is very predatory in comparison to any other battle pass out there I had some try to make the statement that halo isnt the only game to not give you premium currency for games and challenges and I laughed at them asking them to name a game still heavily played today. They named anthem and I laughed at them saying further that was proof of their failure trying this. I dont want to see halo go the way of anthem but if they dont add some way to earn credits this games replayability is going to die very quickly for a lot of players. And may just push the last faithful halo fans to games like apex warzone and other fps games
I think we can all agree that when we said we wanted credits to return we didn’t want them to return like this.
Free to play was a mistake
I’d personally much rather have the multiplayer shipped with the campaign and included in the base price of the game (like it’s always been). Where you’d also get access to a range of customization options included in the game you’ve bought. And then having battlepasses being something that prolongs the life of the game maybe a year or so after release. Instead they make EVERY option available from day one obtainable exclusively from the shop or BP.
I can comfortably say that if this was the case, we’d still have a thread titled “This is the most predatory monetization scheme in a long time” in which someone would say its unconscionable that a premium purchase game has a cosmetic shop and battle pass.
I know multiplayer is F2P but why on earth do we pay full price for campaign then? It doesn’t add up.
What doesn’t add up is your reasoning here. All the textures, models, animations, coding, VFX, and SFX that were made for both campaign and multiplayer still have a price tag, on top of that the campaign looks like it’s going to be absolutely massive from a game design perspective. So yeah, the campaign undoubtedly has an insane price tag, so it makes perfect sense for it to be full price. It would blow my mind if they charged less for it.
Now we’re stripped of that freedom of expression that we used to have.
How? There’s free customization in the battle pass (yeah it takes too long to get there, but it seems 343 is aware that something needs to change), there are events that drop items, and next week there’s that Fracture event that was advertised as “Free Content” on Twitter. Assuming that the items advertised as Free aren’t secretly behind a paywall, there’s some sick looking freedom of expression right there. How are non-paying players “stripped” of that?
The only people that say this are people who are vehemently opposed to MTX for no other reason than “I don’t like how expensive cosmetic-only items are.”
It’s dressup for spartans. This has literally zero impact on the game. Get over it.
Next weeks “free” event is also a paid event, with 30 free unlocks that are nothing even close to what they have been promoting it as.
Not a lot of info on it right now but it seems like theres a paid and free tier of loot with other stuff for the armour being sold in the shop.
This is beyond milking the customer and is beyond manipulative
Its not just playing dress up, its a feature of the game locked behind mtx with tiny sprinkles of free stuff to say theres free stuff.
If we accept this garbage then who knows what they axe next to make a profit off of.
I honestly liked the design of most of H4’s armor, but yeah 5’s were pretty bad aside from a handful.

Summary
This has nothing to do with being unable to afford it, this is the second time I’ve had to tell you this. You are either a child or stupid, most likely both given your previous statements were so ridiculous that my IQ was temporarily lowered to 85 just by reading them.
“Why do people like fashion? It’s dress up for people, it has literally zero impact on your life”
Insults and mean words probably make you feel good but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re ultimately arguing about not being able to get game content at a reasonable manner to you.

Where did you get this info? I’d like to check this out myself. If true then that’s actually disgusting to market the event as “free” but lock the good stuff behind a paywall.
Its not just playing dress up, its a feature of the game locked behind mtx
Stop saying this. The “feature” isn’t locked behind a paywall. Everyone can access the feature. You’re upset that there are pieces of content related to the feature that require purchase.
“Why do people like fashion? It’s dress up for people, it has literally zero impact on your life” Blockquote
I never said that people couldn’t like cosmetics, so… not sure what point you’re trying to make here. But if someone was criticizing fashion shows as “the worst” thing ever, I’d hold the exact same opinion of them that I hold about people who hate cosmetic MTX.
I was coming on here to talk about how bad the costs of things in the store are. It’s $2 for a single emblem?! BS. I agree there should be a way to earn currency. If the progression is fixed to be substantially more consumer friendly, maybe even given currency instead of xp for completing weekly challenges after finishing the BP.
Not saying it is the best solution, but just trying to give y’alls ideas because blowing $60 on the game, and a min $10 every few months for a BP is going to get pricey, especially for those who need xbox live on top of that.
The games great, keep up the good work! You’re doing awesome and I believe y’alls will make it more awesome than it already is!
This is the same monetisation system as every other game with a battle pass right now. You get basically nothing on the free track so it encourages you to buy it. Battle pass is the same price as most others at €10.
Buying armour sets for €20 is the same as COD or any other game, the price point is the exact same. They’re just doing what every other free to play game is doing, because the formula and price point works.
Of the skins that release for €20, I only ever like 1 in every 15 skins they make. And if I like it enough, I’m happy to pay 20 for it. I did that in Warzone, Siege and Apex. All at similar price points. They’re not expecting everyone to buy every armour piece.
So, does anyone else feel 343 was misleading in regards to FOMO and Player-first thinking? The rotating store and it’s ridiculously high prices feel like the opposite of what they said they were aiming for.
It would be great if we could buy what we want whenver we feel like it.
Yeh this is still pretty bad.
For the cost there paying for I could have had the full game of Halo Reach with tons of armour and the same can be said for MCC. They should lower the prices and at the very least make credits earnable at a reasonable speed and exp system is a joke. I’m not at all convinced to keep playing due to how bad the progression system is and what scares me is I doubt 343i cares enough to make major changes to fix these problems. 343i should have never gone the live service route.
Currently right now lost most of my interest until they make credits earnable with a ranking system similar to MCC/Reach since there is very little incentive to keep playing. Loyalty to Halo only goes so far but I say enough is enough.
This simply isn’t true. Take the CoD battlepass for instance. It offers CoD Points, Nameplates, Emblems and weapon blueprints all for free at a much shorter grind and comes with more free options for meaningful customisation as default.
They’re the same price* but come with different things, I randomly picked a bundle from CoD Warzone** that was the same price as the Zevedza Bundle and it included
1 Skin
1 Vehicle Skin
2 Weapon Blueprints
1 Assassination Animation
1 Nameplate
1 Emblem
1 Voice Line
Compared to Zevezda which offers
1 Armour set (not including gloves, wrist or utility)
1 Armour accessory
1 Visor
1 Coating*
1 Stance
They clearly are not offering a comparable collection of items. CoD’s bundle packs more bang for your buck.
*Whilst their in game currency is of the same real world value, CoD’s free battlepass allows you to earn a small amount of currency bringing the actual value of the bundle down for long time players.
**I had a look through two other bundles and both had more “primary” content than the bundle I described.
***It’s white btw, the only option for white which was standard in every other Halo game. Want to be white? -Yoink!- you, pay me.
