Which can be aleviated by taking the proper measures.
Like;
Map sales.
DLC free weekends.
Allowing access to DLC maps as long as you’re in a party with someone who owns the DLC.
But it can do so among players.
Skins are apparently the reason “default” is used as an insult.
Furthermore, the environment the developers create in the game is in large part meant to be frustrating to the players to the point where they are more willing to spend money.
Some could regard it as some form of abuse, and that would then come from the developers themselves.
I just read through a Polygon article on the subject. Thank you for bringing that up to me. I appreciate it.
I would still say that premium skins are still better than even fractionally splitting up the player base with payed map packs though. I do think there’s some merit to what you’re saying though.
On the bright side, at least we don’t need to constantly open boxes, sell items, and manage all of that.
Regardless, we shouldn’t stand for the alternative f2p model copied from other games with no thought put into it, where you don’t want to buy a season pass cause you think the next pass or the pass after that may have what you really want… all while a large portion of the community are stuck on the same armor permutations for months.
At the end of the day its a scummy system meant to pray on players who like to look cool, and now 343i knows that we know, so hopefully its addressed properly in a way that reflects their player first rhetoric they have been chanting for the last year
Agreed, this not a good look for Halo, they really need to think about the prices.
It doesn’t even make economic sense, If something costs 20 bucks and small amount of players will buy it or a set costs 8 bucks and a bunch of players will buy it, which will make more profit for 343i?
Plus give players in game a chance to earn that currency, like in destiny or what not.
The thing that pisses me off with the battlepass is that you can actually work and play all the way through the pass and after paying $10 for it and all people would assume when seeing you is that you spent $200 to unlock the entire battlepass. It personally makes me not wanna play this game anymore if the only progression system is the battlepass yet you’ll have nothing cool to show for it if you actually play/grind all the way through it.
Is 343 not making enough money from selling the battlepass for $10 along with selling new individual unique armors and skins every week? Alongside selling the other half of the game for a full $60 that’s also going to be coming out with DLC we have to pay for? I think 343 should ditch the ability to instantly level all the way through a battlepass otherwise I can see this game going stale for a lot of people real fast.
They came to the conclusion we didnt spend enough on req packs in halo 5 so they needed to add 7 other things you can buy too, again, all the stuff in the store plus the game plus the battlepass is 285$, this entire game is based around money instead of skill or prestige like every other halos customization
3 was achievements
4 was ranks and achievements and challenges
Reach was credits and how long it took to earn them
Infinite is whoever forks out the most cash
Oh they make enough alright, but enough isn’t truly enough for them or Microsoft, they want to milk as much as they possibly can.
I was very much vs the req packs in halo 5 because of its RNG but hell, at least you could earn them for free even if it took for ever. Infinite is going to have 85% of its skins, armors, emblems and who knows wha else behind a paywall battle pass. I knew there would be a catch to them saying no more loot boxes and that’s because of this lol. It’s not even that they don’t understand either, they know people hate this stuff but the problem is it just takes one person to spend hundreds of dollars to make up for the 5 that don’t, them whales will make them a lot of money for infinite.
I’d argue that for $70 a permanent premium battle pass should be included, especially with the current time-frames for the battle pass (7 months). The fact they didn’t take a leaf out of other developers books with how to create a decent battle pass is mind numbing.
No, I mean that 343 shouldn’t be able to get away with offering a lower value on their game. Games felt like they use to be more worth getting with each successive generation, now the opposite is true.
$60 for Reach is equivalent to paying $75 today. Today you could spend $100 on Infinite and still not have the same level of customization, forge, etc., that you did in Reach. It’s all in the name of selling cosmetics.
I get it. An amour set for $20 is pretty crazy; however, there’s people out there that will pay it, and if they want to, they should. If sales are bad I’m optimistic that 343i will see in their earnings reports and lower the prices of these cosmetic upgrades to sell more.
I’m not going to bother purchasing any of the cosmetic upgrades. The gameplay isn’t affected by them. I might buy a battle pass down the line as $10 for 6 months worth of content isn’t bad at all, and considering the stuff available for free is garbage, I might feel compelled if I get enough time to crank up the XP.
It would be great if they introduce the ability for you to earn credits rather than having to purchasing them with $$. That would give me more incentive to take on the challenges. Right now, I’m having much more fun ignoring them altogether, which is a shame as this is a large part of the new landscape of Halo multiplayer. I’d rather spend my money on some beers to enjoy while rackin’ up some kills!
The cost isn’t the main issue, it’s the quality of the BattlePass that’s the problem. I could very easily buy everything in the store right now, it doesn’t make it worth the money, nor does it mean that anything in the store should even be sold.
