That has absolutely nothing to do with what I actually said, and in no way justifies 343 deliberate poor actions.
Time invested in, and money spent on Halo is sunk cost fallacy. If you don’t like the way it has changed, well complain about it by all means, but do try to move on. It’s probably really hard to hear if you consider yourself a loyal fan.
I might not like the direction a particular franchise has gone, but just because it might not be what you want, there are other players who like the new game (and series).
I mentioned MCC because many players have suggested playing that instead of Infinite, because it is somehow superior. But I have zero nostalgia for the older games. Sorry to say that about something you might love dearly, but it doesn’t speak to me or appeal to me.
Bruh… no offense but why every post like this always forget all the hype and good will the community had after the first flight, hell even the first teaser? The community was so hype and positive that was willing to overlook stuff like the coating system and how they went radio silence and all the news we got for the game was only thanks to stuff that they wanted to sell us.
Then the game launched and the whole community give positive feedback, ways to improve, what they didnt like. But they lied (“UI cant handle it” / “Just some people are having problems with BTB” / etc). 343 burned all the goodwill of the people, and even Joseph is losing it too: his last response wasnt well received because it was the same since launch.
We all loved Halo, we all wanted to take the throne again, and we all hated how instead of doing that 343 dropped the ball by searching the maximum profit while doing the minimum
They’ve failed to make complete halo game for a decade, it needs given to another studio that actually knows what they’re doing.
Yup. 150% this, the community was hopeful and excited for Halo Infinite, and it had a rocky launch. People thought it would get better, gave their feedback, and waited. Seven months in, the same issues are still here and the game is kind of a mess. Its not a functionally awful game, but there is a LOT of room for improvement that needs to happen, and it feels like its taking forever. How long can we play the same game modes on the same maps?
They’d move on if there was something like Halo to move onto, but in the current market it doesnt really exist, theres also the other angle being “hope for it to be better, eventually.” they hang on because they hope it can be better, they know it can be better since theyve seen it in a better state before, so from that angle its also hard to let go.
I completely agree.
When infrastructure issues like De-Synch and Abysmal Server Selection (i.e. 80% of my matches are at 250 ms ping times because their Server Selector “thinks” Amsterdam @ 250 ms is closer than Seattle @ 25ms from Alberta Canada) still persists since launch and we have no ETA for a fix from 343, how is someone supposed to be “Positive” about the game?
It’s unplayable and 343 seems just fine with the network issues as is. I will never re-install this game on my Xbox until they finally add back in Manual Server Selector (as in H5 / MCC) AND HONOUR what we chose for a server.
You know what’s frustrating? I could technically be considered “The broader audience” cuz I didn’t get into Halo until 2019. When the MCC dropped on Steam.
That was literally just game after game of Halo as it used to be. I ran through Reach, CE, 2, 3, ODST, and even 4. Halo doesn’t need to change things up to appeal to new folks. It only ever needed to be Halo.
Now the ‘broader audience’ is gone, the fans are all that’s left and they’re all pissed off. I consider myself a fan now, but sadly I can’t say I owe it to Infinite because it just makes me sad.
I’m not even mad, I’m disappointed. There’s no other way to say it. I’m sticking with Infinite solely because there’s at least some good to it, I just wish 343 would have some actual faith in Halo and some kind of desire to make their fans happy instead of nickel and diming us.
I don’t mean any of this in a mean way, I’m just stating a fact- I wasn’t into Halo, but MCC made me a fan. Infinite is testing me as a fan and I don’t blame people for leaving.
This is exactly how many of my friends and myself feel. We feel 343 spends way too much time…WAY TOO MUCH, trying to bring a new fans and they completely forget or ignore their core fan base. So many game developers have done this too, not just 343I and it’s ridiculous. I’ve been gaming since and before Atari and I’ve seen it time and time again over the years and I’ve never understood it.
To me there’s just so many things that 343 have ignored over the years or haven’t acknowledged and it’s just perplexing in my mind. As I’ve said in another posts, anyone that’s been playing Halo for a long time knows what the majority of fans have liked and disliked.
I won’t get into it too much as I have before but I will just say a perfect example of this is Firefight. Practically everyone I know loves that mode. It has been super popular since it was introduced in ODST. Yet, instead of catering to what fans want and Halo 4 they completely ignored it and tried something new. It’s cool to try something new but give the fans what they want first and then try something new. Even in Halo 5 they didn’t even have it in until the fans practically begged them. Now here we are in Halo infinite and not even a peep about it… Just makes no sense to me at all.
Another thing Is something simple like clear ranked in social playlists. Halo 4 didn’t have this and the majority hated it. Halo 5 at launch did not have this and people again were screaming at them to clearly do this and then eventually they did and you never heard people complain about it again. Yet here we are again with Halo infinite and nothing…
I think Halo has a pile of fans and a lot of people like me (long time fans, since CE even, like me) but myself and I think many other fans are just confused, frustrated and perplexed by so many decisions that they do that it’s at a point of almost like depression, where you’re just so sad at the state of the game, series even that you pretty much just…stop playing because of it all.
Do you play it consistently yourself? Think about it this way Jorge. Life is short. If you are not having fun doing something, are you going to keep doing it? The answer is probably no. That’s what happened to a lot of people playing this game, and rather than force themselves to keep playing, they stopped.
This separation hurt a lot of people more personally though, and some people are very attached to Halo, so at times they can’t quite ‘quit’ the series like they want to, and instead linger around. This is a VERY bad thing, because now not only did those specific players become PO’d with the game, but this happened at the height of the game’s popularity - during an influx of new players rushing to the game. This is when most eyes are on the game. Right now, as we speak, Halo infinite is at the 6 month period, and the game still remains fresh in a lot of people’s minds, and unfortunately this is the worst time to leave bad lasting impressions. Now the new audience can hop on the hate bandwagon. That has created an ‘Avalanche’ of hatred for the game.
