Here’s a question I have for you guys and this is not meant to defend the negative aspects of the game but Do you guys think that the halo community is ruining itself and the halo in general?
I understand the criticism but I honestly feel like the halo community has been too pessimistic to the point that it discourages both old and new players from continuing to support the franchise.
More maps, reverting some of the nerfing back to original like melee. All I agree with. But the community is just too depressing to the point that it pushes people away. 343 has a lot to answer for but WE ARE ALSO NOT HELPING
My speculation For those who are pessimistic is that they basically conditioned themselves to “hate play” the game.
They are so focused on anything negative with the game that they have habituated their mind to only view it as such even if the match is going fine. At least that’s how it is coming across to me when it comes to some people.
i would like to this to be civil but i have my doubts so… comment away
I think for the most part, the entire community wants Halo to be great. Some people are very passionate, so that might lead to some… questionable remarks and takes. But yeah that is just my two cents.
good point. i guess i just want to bring attention to everyone here and would bring some insight and awareness that some approaches are counter productive. thanks for the reply!
I really don’t want to be negative, but technical issues like getting shot through walls and what appears to be massive lag are irritating. Then you have 6 months with nothing new. No communication from 343 until right before season 2 is lame. There’s a ton to be negative about, only minor things to be happy and supportive about.
It really is a shame everything is so negative on here but for alot of people there is very little to be positive about as time goes on. The roadmap shattered alot of peoples hopes for the next 6-12 months
That said, even as a new player to Halo I can see that 343i have earned some fair criticism. It’s hard when you see a lot of resentment and hatred. I try not to take it on board because they are not my issues with the game. It would be healthier if some could just accept that the franchise has changed, let it go, and move on.
Personally I don’t get anything out of playing a game I no longer enjoy. Life is far too short for that.
The only people coming here and reddit and following influencers are hardcore fans. Anyone seeing this is a mark for Halo and or a troll, who would already have their mind made up.
It’s this mystical unicorn called the “broader audience” that you need to worry about, but they won’t visit these places or take the time to look into the games issues, if they run into them, they will just drop the game. We are basically a snake eating itself.
I wouldnt say change is the problem. Most of the negative feedback comes from their failure to transition to live service. Thats the reason people wish they could pay $60 for a game that has all the standard halo features. If this game had a handful of new maps and modes, campagin coop, forge, and bug fixes people wouldnt be complaining as much. There would still be complaints about paywall, challenges, etc. but not as much pessimism.
I honestly think a year from now there wont be nearly as much pessimism.
I think Halo fans have every right to be angry after 10 years of being unhappy, then getting Halo Infinite was like a punch in the teeth. If 343 is going to milk us to death like cows (aggressive microtransactions) at least let us be happy cows with a lot of food and room to roam (Lots of content and maps). Fun fact, you’re more likely to die from a cow attack than a shark attack, and you don’t want cows to stampede. Some cows just happen to be bulls. I’m being metaphorical, but I’m sure you get the point
I just want Halo and games in general to be the best it can be. If the community hadn’t made an uproar about Star Wars Battlefront 2’s loot box progression, the game might’ve been completely doomed to an RNG store based progression with expensive heroes rather than the decent Star Wars experience with good updates that it got to be.
If we just shut up about the store, challenges, core-limited coating, etc. then it’ll be easy to shove problems under the rug. Sometimes you have to speak up to change things, and sometimes it can be annoying or repetitive.
There is no need to be vulgar or threatening, but the reason we are in this state with all gaming, is because people haven’t been vocal enough, when all this DLC, monetization garbage started years ago, and here we are.
It’s not even just the game, it’s also the TV show. That goes for many movie and show adaptations. Big companies that didn’t create the franchise don’t understand the franchise or care to understand the franchise and the fans that back it. They just do whatever they want and disrespect the fans of the franchise, and wonder why it fails to sell or appeal to the core fanbase. Then they go “oh I guess people just don’t want a movie”, no you did NOT do the movie justice. We want a movie that is good. We want a TV show that’s good. We want a game that’s good. We DO want those things, but we want them done RIGHT. 343 didn’t invent Halo and they don’t care about Halo or the fans
As I said ones about Infinite - "great opportunity became great failure "
Man, they got everything to made Infinite very big title, but that infamous 343 management over and over and over again.
As for me I’m playing Infinite and will be even in a current state because I love halo, but it’s so pity seeing everything going this way.
i never said about ignoring problems. i’m saying the nature of some individual’s approach ultimately puts a damper on other players which well most likely push them away from Halo and move on to other games.
There is a distinction between criticism such as desync, maps, unneccesary nerfing, etc., and saying this is the worst game ever or ‘this game is dead’ or god forbid some of the threats and egregious insults being flung around lately.
i hope that clarifies my point.
bascially players like myself are getting hit from both sides with all the negatives. 343 bungling the live service and segments of the Halo community that HATE PLAY Halo infinite and project it onto everyone else.
