I love how most of you halo fans think this is good and way better than reach and 4. However, in reality halo has died over the past few years because it became generic. Look at the viewers on twitch for example. http://i.imgur.com/kAOZZzu.png?1. That is just embarrassing how “Gaming Talk Shows” has more viewers. It bothers me how 343 does not listen to the majority of halo fans. Most of them hate reach 4 and even h2a but love halos 1-3.
343 I ask you take a look at what halos 1-3 did. Perfect innovation which maintained halos popularity for 9 Years. 1999-2008. 2009 Reach was released, halo shortly after lost popularity and was later kicked off MLG.
All of these gimmicks like sprint, spartan abilities (i.e Sprint Thrusters, Wall Climb, Ground Pound) take away from what halos multilayer was meant to be. Most people loved halo because of its simplicity and the skill that it took. But now its generic and boring. When i watch this game it looks like cod + destiny + titanfall + halo reach.
Why These Abilities are bad?
I understand that they tried to balance it by making it so our shields do not regenerate when sprinting. However it is still terrible. Why you may ask? Because We cannot play re made maps from older halo games because they were not built off sprint. In addition, it is still not balanced many can still sprint away when shot and sit corner as their shield regenerates. Ya the enemy could chase them down but they would most likely be killed by enemies. Also, halo shouldn’t be a cat and mouse game. People think sprint makes halo more fast paced. However, in reality all it does is make halo a cat and mouse game which makes games go by slower. Finally, Sprint just strips away from the core of halos 1-3 which is what 343 promised to build halo 5 off of. Halos 1-3 Didn’t have sprint and weren’t slow paced because the maps were small and the movement speed was perfect.
Ground Pound: This is just so stupid how someone can be in the air than slam their fist into the ground instantly killing someone. All this does it take away from halos simplicity. It even lowers the skill gap because it gives players basically a power weapon that they spawn with.
Thrusters: All this does is help players live longer. For example if someone is getting shot they can just thrust around the corner and wait for their shields to regenerate. This indeed lowers the skill gap and simplicity of halo. Also, this refers back to my point made about sprint! It turns halo into a cat and mouse game. Kind like Tom and Jerry. Finally, Thrusters are bad because they just add more gimmicks to halo that make the game take less skill because players have a better chance of not dieing.
Wall Climb: This basically takes away the entire point of learning jumps and tricks on a map. New players can now make any jump that a veteran player can do because of wall climb. In old halos veterans took advantage of new players by making jumps to get either capture a flag, get a power weapon like over shield, or be hidden from the battle. For example If you watch halo 4 ctf some people know that you Gandhi hop on one of the to pillars to make it up to where the flag is spawned.
Sounds
Announcer: He shouldn’t sound heroic like 343 has tried to make him. I like it when he had that cool deep voice in halos 2 3 and reach. This goes back to what 343 promised. Building halo 5 off of halos 1-3. Many other halo fans would agree that how he sounded in halos 2 3 and reach was better than 4 and 5.
Gun Sounds: They are to loud! They are so weird sounding, clunky and just annoying to listen to. They honestly should have just used halo 3s BR sound. Deep and bad -Yoink- sounding. The sniper sounds like its broken and deformed lol. They need to make it loud and bad -Yoink- so that it has a epic feel to getting a kill with it. Even in Montages the halo reach sniper made reach montages really good because of how it sounded.
