This is my situation.

Imagine if somebody took your fiance, brainwashed her into thinking that she was someone you hated, and gave her back. She still looks the same, and nothing physically has changed for the most part. In fact, she looks better than before. But there has been a deep, mental change, that causes her to act painfully alike to someone you loathe. You can’t leave her, because you love her with all your heart, but you hate her. You hate her so much because she is nothing that she used to be except for how she looks. So now you are stuck in a place where you hate what you love, and can’t love or stay.

This is my thoughts on Halo 4.

Sure, it still looks like Halo, but it plays like COD. it has adapted damn near every aspect of COD possible (gameplay wise) and now plays nothing like Halo at it’s core.

I’m heartbroken here. I hate this game, and that’s saying something considering I’ve played this franchise to death for over a decade. And because of that, I don’t find any other games fun. I’ve never been a fan of console games with deep campaigns, never liked sports games, not into MMORPGs, and I hate realistic war games. I loved Halo because it was different, and now I can’t go back. I’m literally stuck playing a game I can’t stand playing.

Before anyone says I care too much about this game, or get a life, Judge how you wish. I love this Franchise, and this Halo has been a bigger part of my life than almost anything. I feel like someone has kidnapped my love and is playing some sick game with my head.

Anyway, just wanted to give a comparison to my thoughts and a more real life scenario. I don’t know if anyone else feels the way I do, but if you do, at least we’re not alone.

I agree entirely with this post:)

I disagree about how it plays like CoD, I just don’t see it no matter what people have said so far. It still feels like a Halo to me however, it is not an improvement from the original series. Reach was a terrible game to me and what 343i tried to do was evolve it from that game. In my opinion, it simply fell flat.

This game plays nothing like COD. That’s a 100% false statement.

Does it play like Halo CE, 2, or 3? No. But it does play a lot like Reach with a few minor modifications. I feel like the game has been getting much better in the past few months with all the changes 343 has made though.

Yea the " it plays like COD " statement has been popular ever since people started to take even one element similar to another In cod. Points gets you items its like Cod. You can choose a class or custom load out? It’s like COD it’s like if I took small elements that wouldn’t be known to the large market of console gamers who don’t dwelve deeper into the design of games I could take credit for a lot of things. Even gear wasn’t the first cover based shooter. While halo 4 dose have custom load outs and ordinance it’s nothing like cod and if you believe otherwise then your m

I stopped right there.

This is a pretty great post. The metaphor was spot on.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully, the 343 badkids will actually read it.

COD…yawn…blah blah…yawn…scratch…blah blah…COD…whatever…COD…sigh…

Okay… That was a really weird metaphor…

Who brain washed her I shall have the scoundrels head!

You spawn randomly around a map that was pulled from the campaign, attempting to kill the enemy with a weapon in 1 of 5 loadouts that you earned from experience grinding (that doesn’t account skill but how much you have played). while getting kills you earn rewards for how many points you get in-game, and these rewards give you an upper hand in a game which you most likely already have the advantage. at the end of the game, you don’t receive a rank for your performance, but instead receive exp points which go towards your next specialization, at which you will restart once you reach it’s max.

Which game am I talking about? Halo 4 or COD?

I don’t see how people miss the similarities. I just don’t. If you take a COD player and make them play Halo 4, they will feel right at home, which is exactly how this game was designed. To play like COD so that 343i could try to convince the COD fanbase to switch to Halo. But what they failed to realize, apparently, is that if COD players wanted to play COD, they would probably just do just that. Not switch to a game based off entirely different aspects of gameplay.

> Okay… That was a really weird metaphor…

Yeah, but it perfectly describes my feelings towards this game. I’ve played Halo religiously for almost a decade, and now I can’t stand to play for more than an hour. And it kills me, because I love Halo with more passion than I have felt towards much. So now I just don’t know what to do.

It’s getting much better with the addition of things like Throwdown (a playlist based loosely on how Halo 2/3 played with small arena style maps and even starting weapons, with power weapons on timers instead of randomly handed to players), with the red X being re-implemented after it was inexplicably removed, and with a CSR being re-implemented (in a pointless manner, may I add) which was one of the only reason that many gamers choose Halo over the other shooters.

You’re right, it is getting better with these things being re-implemented. But the fact they were taken out in the first place is a travesty and absolutely ignorant to the entire Halo core.

And read my statement comparing the two. I don’t understand how people can say COD and Halo 4 don’t play alike.

I see what the OP is saying, but it plays nothing like CoD, it does have CoD elements, but thats all. Halo 4 plays like a Halo.

The thing that is missing from Halo 4 is all of the content and features that made the previous titles so great.

Do you feel like Halo was cheating on you all this time?

I feel with you, man.

Halo is a legend, and that legend feels like it is being dismantled before our vary eyes in so many ways…

There’s nothing you/I/they/WE can do about it, just deal with it already. The game has 4 months since it released and too many things have been typed/said. And though not much is going to change.

I used to think like you do, but i moved on to the next page, because of the fact that this game is just 1 out of 12 i have.

Maybe on the next title 343 won’t kcuf up and pretend to be something they aren’t. And be sure that i, as a fan of the series, would look forward to it.

> Do you feel like Halo was cheating on you all this time?

It was an open relationship between him, her, and and about 7 million other dudes.

This game plays nothing like CoD. I hate when people say “Halo took all the elements of CoD!” You do realize, however much you hate CoD or don’t hate it, it is a successful shooter and if Halo DIDN’T adapt they would be fools. CoD has taken elements from Halo, as well.
