This is just the direction gaming is going I guess

Modern day gamers, which are primarily the younger crowd, are more enticed with the satisfaction of self gratification as opposed to cooperation and goal achieving. In terms of playing a video game, there’s nothing wrong with that. And it seems like halo infinite has followed this path of self gratification over everything. Big part of that is customization. Look at every hugely successful game of the modern Era and you’ll see they follow the same monetary path. Fortnite, GTA V, and CoD, have made BILLIONS through microtransations for cosmetics. 343 wants a piece of that pie, so to get into the new demographic, (the younger crowd/new generation of players), they have scrapped the old ways and hopped on the band wagon, making customization the priority over traditional Halo gameplay. Red vs blue was always used for teams to easily identify who is friendly and opposing to keep gameplay fair and straightforward. Because cosmetics are now the primary focus, SHADERS are the focus and red vs blue has been scrapped. The idea of taking something that helps maintain fair and balanced gameplay and putting it second to the personalized cosmetics is overt to the direction of gaming. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but this is the new generation of gaming. So for all the older halo players like myself out there that just doesn’t understand why things are the way they are and why things that were never broken are being “fixed”, its just what gaming is today. Haven’t participated in the flights, but seeing gameplay all over the web, I can already see what needs change IMO. The red vs blue color scheme and player outlines are probably my biggest gripe and I hope there is a toggle to keep it traditional so it’s easier on the eyes and to not mistake friend from foe. I know this has been an old topic but more posts about this will sure get 343’s attention.

While Red vs. Blue has been the tradition, I’ve always considered it a “problem”. I agree a toggle would be nice because not everyone is a fan of the new system, but I’m finally able to portray my character in the colors I choose to use rather than equipping them, just to be forced Red or Blue as soon as I get into non-FFA gametypes.

This is why I dont think its a problem how it stands now. There’s nothing wrong with self gratification on your personal spartan. Having your own spartan is canon now so it’s pretty cool to have that shown at all times. It’s what a lot of people are going to be paying for, as well. Just wish there was a toggle option for the few that prefer traditional color schemes.

To be honest I haven’t really noticed it to be much of an issue during this latest flight, yeah I do miss that red vs blue feel, but at the same time as someone that never really played a whole lot of FFA modes where my actual colors and customization could be shown off in past halos, I kind of like the change. So far I haven’t really been finding hard to tell friend and foe apart, everyone is highlighted bright red on the other team and my teammates have markers over them at all times, similar to something like in Call of Duty more than past halos where it was just the tag.

I do support there being an option to toggle that though, I’m not sure how much I’d use it, but since it’s purely a cosmetic thing it shouldn’t be that difficult to implement.

They toned down the outlines a bit for this flight and improved the shields. I’m not noticing it as much with this flight Having said taht I do wish come launch there is a slider to tone down the outlines and or toggle off option. I heard they were working on this but won’t be till after launch unfortunately
