For 3 years I’ve been watching people AFK firefight, and STILL nobody does anything to properly deal with it. It happens on Halo 4 too, from what I heard (Spartan Ops). I’ve even been host booted by people when I keep them from getting a free perfection. I sent a guy a message last night telling him to earn his credits/rounds completed and the -Yoink!- replies that he “went to the store” and I’m a -Yoink-, etc. REALLY!? Somebody can go to the store and leave their game online to screw people out of having teammates that ACTUALLY PLAY!? I’m not a -Yoink- backpack, and people sitting in the spawn doing nothing causes half the enemies to run up there because of the stupid way target priority works in FF. It slows the game down. If they’d turn off the -Yoink- timer, it wouldn’t bother me as much, but I’m not working my -Yoink- off for 20 minutes to get screwed out of the bonus round. We only get one set. There should be no need for a timer. That’s thee main reason I never play FF Limited. I’m gonna spend a half hour trying to stay alive and not get a bonus round out of it? No thanks. FF Limited has 3 ways to end the match (besides quitting). That’s 2 too many. I’ve earned 53.5 million credits and double Onyx Perfectionist (11,000+) but people get away with all this complete nonsense not actually playing the game. Hell, I scored 120,000 points on Holdout one match (without dying) while some idiot shot ME with a fuel rod the whole match.
Developers need to give people a way to report boosters/AFKers to improve the game experience for the people that actually play the damn thing. Why not have volunteer moderators on the game or something like they do with forums? Get people that actually play a lot to police their favorite game.
I totally agree with you, punishment should be a course of action against these AFK’er types. Since they repeated the weekly again this week its even worse than last week.
You have my support. Boot them all forever.
This is one of the main reason that I only do Score Attack when I am solo and FF when I am with friends who I know wont AFK.
You cant get rid of the timer though as this will play into the hands of the AFKers. Credits are dished out based on time spent in a game. If they cut out the timer and let you play through to the end of the bonus round and the game went for 25- 30 minutes the AFKer will get an even bigger “game complete” payout. I dont know about you but that would piss me off even more.
Look at it this way… The more you play with AFK players, the higher you get to score… The higher average score you get the better players you match with in the future (if there is enough population) and those players are less likely to AFK (because AFK players have lower average scores) so the more you play, the less AFK players you should match with… And those AFK players are more likely to match with other AFK players (perhaps why they think its ok, because every one they match with seems to do the same thing.

There’s absolutely no proof that works, and after the 1000s of hours and 100s of people that don’t play, I can tell you it most certainly doesn’t.
> You cant get rid of the timer though as this will play into the hands of the AFKers.
Only because their too lazy to fix the payout. Why should I get LESS credits for clearing the map fast? The payout has always been utterly broken. Time spent is NOT equal to actual work being put in and if they had fixed this from the beginning we wouldn’t still have AFKers.
Why do you care if people boost? It doesn’t hurt you in any way.
> Why do you care if people boost? It doesn’t hurt you in any way.
YES IT DOES! I’m doing all the -Yoink- work and they’re sitting there expecting free perfections, rounds completed for the weekly challenge, and credits for doing nothing. Plus it slows things down. Do you even know the meaning of “COOPERATIVE” !??!!? I’ll give you a hint, it means everyone in the match ACTUALLY PLAYING instead of sitting there jerking off while one guy does all the work.

I thought I was clear… But upon reading I suppose I should elaborate… No, it doesn’t work. Has not worked in well over a year and will never work again due to low population. The likely hood that 100 high score type people are playing halo at the same time is probable yet low, the probability that they are all playing FF at the same time is even lower, the probability they are in the same playlist at the same time is lower than even that.
Only point was, if they are on… You are more likely to match with them.
I completely agree with you OP. Problem is since Halo 4 came out no one at 343 even bothers with Reach. Just look at the population counter that’s been stuck @ 19,278 player online for almost a year now. They don’t give a -Yoink-, they have other games to worry about now.
Eventually they will get a system ban for what they are doing, that is still in place but no one ever monitors Reach anymore so the same -Yoink- will continue.

I fully agree.
SHIN MECH BRIAN, I know how you feel. 343 just doesn’t give a rat’s -Yoink- about Halo anymore.
And the REAL Halo, not their -Yoink- version of what they call Halo.

100% agree. The “game complete” credit payout should decrease the longer you play. They meant to do that when they adjusted the payouts for Grifball and Team Objective and they stuffed that up too. Based on form i dont think 343 are capable of fixing it even if they wanted too.

How does that hurt you? Everything you listed is a way it helps them.

Yeah, just let them ruin other people’s matches by refusing to actually play the -Yoink- game and actively participate. You’re obviously a booster if you don’t see any problem.
KillerVWhale, to answer your question,
I do not want to play with WORTHLESS (in this sense) noobs who are too lazy to play the game.
It is just pathetic if you care so much about a rank empty of value, especially if you cheated for it.
The only true way to handle AFC players is to penalize their cR points and ban them temporarily. People do this because they get free cR, if 343 was just brave enough to say “No, if you get a AFC ban then you’ll also lose cR” this would completely end this behavior.
A 10,000 cR penalty would be ideal, it’s gotta be enough to tell that AFC player that there’s no point in even playing if this is how you act.
This is just my idea and I’ve been crusading for this option for years now. Sad to say it but if this hasn’t been done by now then it’s obviously never going to be done. 343 doesn’t care about Reach any how.
Easy solutions…
Reduce credit bonus for time spent.
Multiply credits for kills and assists greatly.
Slightly multiple credits for other medals.
Give top half of players a winners bonus.
Other things like making Arena more lucrative in credits than firefight or gBall would be nice. After all, its the closest thing to a ranked playlist Reach has, it should have the biggest payouts to help players “rank up” in credits with large win bonuses. (Question, is it only double credits for winners in Arena?)
Legitimate solution, but they can’t even be bothered to fix the population counter and the servers seem to be having issues.
Man don’t complain. I’m sure those who afk have some reason for doing it. I, myself, do it as well. Only after I receive an assist. Then I just go afk, I don’t quit a match once I start it, the rest of the match and mute, and submit negative reviews on all the players. Most of them don’t even know how to play in FF. They treat it like its the -Yoink- Multiplayer Matchmaking playlist.

No, there is no legitimate reason to AFK an entire match. If you’re not going to actually play, GET THE HELL OUT! There’s no excuse for this -Yoink-. People who actually play the game don’t deserve to be stuck with garbage boosters like you that have no respect for the game.

my solution is - when I have a game that the other or all other players are AFK,
1st off I’ll do my best to get them killed
2nd while I may kill afew covies to kill the time, I will not complete the first wave, that way they will only get some points, and not get any perfections
3rd after the game complain and avoid and go on
, but there are the times (on a few choice FF maps, with good angle of fire) that I will load the sniper , hang back and work on my perfections and have a few jerks interfere by trying to get me killed or (as in at least 1 case) stand in front of the sniper rifle, bacically treating me like a AFK in my mind
