I have a theory.
In Halo Reach, we were able to get the recon helmet as a download that not everyone received. HOWEVER, once you were a high enough rank, the recon helmet become available to buy with credits. Perhaps Spartan Points can buy us new skins down the road including the ones we have seen so far.
What do you guys think? Do you think 343 would just make some skins impossible to get for some people or do you agree with me?
Well, they could do a bunch of things:
-Bundle them with Future DLC
-Sell them as seperate DLC
-Have them be Unlockable through Gameplay
-Make them completely exclusive to the preorders

Your first 3 options are all possible ways that would be fair/feasible. I feel like making them preorder exclusive is just a bad idea. It would anger quite a few people, especially perfectionists.

Ha, don’t worry friend, I see it highly unlikely that Microsoft would miss an opportunity to make money, or have another incentive for people to spend their money, so Option Four is certainly the least likely, and Options 1 & 2 are the most likely…
Not that I mind it all too much, what with experiencing Gears of War 3, I’ve already been conditioned to these “Business Practices” and accept them for what they are:
-Annoying
-Unnecessary
-Unavoidable
Keep in mind, the Recon that was a pre-order bonus was the one with the tactical UA (or whatever the heck they called that thing) that armor attachment never became available in the armory without that code

huh… I never knew that. Well thank you for informing me but I still feel like they could do something like my original idea. As long as you can at some point receive these armor skins then it would be fair.

No, you got a recon helmet with special attachments which you could not buy.
343 also talked about special modifications that you could get for your Spartan that you get at launch where others would unlock, right? That gives me the impression that 343 has the idea of temporary exclusivity in their head. I’m hoping that all of their pre-order skins will be available later down the road, free of charge, for those that didn’t pre-order Halo 4.
temporary exclusivity im fine with. Just never being able to own one of the skins urks me.
