This is getting worse, rapidly. We need to talk

I always have a solid 21ms ping and no disconnects.
Come to the UK where people both play And complain

The holes and cracks in it’s design are deeper than we’re led to believe, of course. The four horsemen of the apocalypse had their field day back over the last few years, and their names were:

The simultaneous creation of a brand new engine that was only derivative of Blam!, a project that would require a lot of in-house developer attention during the game’s infancy.

This is maybe the least egregious of their project goals. Devising new engines to take advantage of newer hardware isn’t a terrible idea at all; it was just the timing in conjunction with the other tenfold issues that made it this bad.

The little mentioned leadership during the early and middle stages of the game’s development-- more specifically, the reported lack thereof.

If I recall correctly, there was once a glassdoor review which described the situation as multiple teams making 5 or so games simultaneously. Glassdoor reviews don’t speak favorably of the leadership itself either.

A historic (and chronic) reliance on non-permanent workers, or ‘Contractors’, which has led to a revolving door situation in the workplace.

For those unaware, this situation means that there’s a steady flow of new eyes and fresh hands-- a terrible situation when working on a game full of nuance and technical debt buried deep in it’s construction. The people who understand this nuance leave, and those who don’t flood in to contribute to the technical debt further.

And last but not least? The Pandemic, the one and only recent Epidemic, the infamous SaRS-COV-19 that decimated hundreds of thousands of lives and locked down millions more.

I didn’t write this intending to make it sarcastically obvious or anything, but Covid-19 was easily a nail in the coffin for Halo Infinite. The already weakened development effort was hindered much further for 2 entire years, really only revitalizing close to the original release date. If the game was in trouble in 2019? It only got worse from then on.

To answer your question directly, Dodger? The game was never in a good state. It can only go up from here if they continue to support the project, but it’s a long way up when they’ve dug this much of a hole for themselves.

I’m on 1000mbps fiber optic internet, and I’ll get “jitters” and a ping of ~150ms. It’s GOT to be server issues.

Quitters in ranked should be banned for a full day. One out of three games, at least one person quits.

Either you’re not based anywhere near a Microsoft data centre or your ISP provides you with a dodgy AF connection,

I’m on much lower download and my ping and jitters are just nonexistent. I have next to no issues - desync has never occurred for me in any significant capacity.

Yes, it is incredibly frustrating, the state we are in. Just yesterday I was having a weapon challenge not tracking kills, we’re sitting at 8 months since launch and we are still having these beta level bugs.

If the game dies I have no sympathy

These forum’s are here for feedback and ideas. So one of two things have happend.

  1. 343I don’t read the forums.

  2. They read the forums and don’t head anyone’s word’s

Since 343 refuses to penalize quitters since everybody is a winner, it has completely ruined the game worse than any Halo before. It’s pretty sad to be honest.

I’m coming from COD and in all the years I’ve played COD I’ve never seen quitting so awful as in Infinite.

But again there is a heavy penalty in COID if you quit. With 343 if you are a quitter you are still a winner. Everybody gets a trophy!

Had a funny thing happen where we had a large party in separate ranked games because of the 4 cap max, next thing you know we ended up in a CTF game against eachother!

Fun game. We won.

Naturally i wanna save the game on theatre to look back on.

NAH not day mate i know you could do it in 2007 but we ain’t about that chief.

343 feel like a bunch of amateurs.

Halo Infinite is a Dress Up game where you make your spartan pretty with microtransactions

There’s also some experimental multiplayer feature or something that the developers just slapped together

I can only imagine how broken the game is when forge drops.

They can test it all they want I’m sure it will be broken.

Also this Beta Test release I’m just going to go out on a limb and it’s going to be just like the Game release. Where they say oh it’s a beta early release the full launch is this day… Than say oh yea what we released in the beta is essentially the full thing nothing will change on full launch.

They are going to hype up forge as working fine and what not than once it releases and has all these bugs your going to see all the news of How development was rough the testers are going to be like yea it was broken but before launch they won’t say that because they are under contract

This, this is on point.

Honestly They should have just made the game a PVE third person shooter, with your multiplayer Spartan. That would at least make the cosmetics worth it. But who the hell wants to buy a helmet just for a small cutscenes at the start of each round

Actually the main reason for the Forums is for fans to be distracted and THINK that they are providing feedback.

In truth, it is a metaphorical paper shredder someone labeled as the “suggestion box”.

Before the update, 80% of my matches are at 250+ ms ping times because their automagic Selection Server thinks that Amsterdam (at 250+ ms ping times) is somehow closer to Alberta Canada than Seattle (at 25 ms ping times).

I shudder to think what it is like now, maybe 100% at 250+ ms?

I guess I have been lucky when it comes to ping then.

I am from the Midwest in Nebraska.
My ping never goes over 70 unless someone is being a lag source on the match.

Or if we are playing Custom Games.
That is what I find funny. In a CG match against my Australian friends, everyone else has server issues except me.
Meanwhile if we are squadded up and playing regular online matches, we all have a similar game experience over all.
Dunno what is up with the Custom Game Servers.

I suspect the Quitters are people like me who have up to 80% of my matches at 250+ ms ping times because they have no manual Server Selector and their automagic version is severely broken.

Imagine your playing at 250+ ms ping times. How much fun do you think Halo Infinite is when your getting updates 4 times per second. I play RTS table games that have higher turn around that this! So people quit and hope the next game isn’t being connected to a server half way around the earth.

And before the Fan bois start chirping about connection, the closest Server is the West Coast (Seattle according to MCC / H5 Server Selector) and when the Auto Magic server selects it, I’m at 25 ms ping times. But 80% of the time it’s connecting me in Alberta Canada to Amsterdam servers so I get 250+ ms ping times. And I’m playing late afternoon - early evening times, which would be prime time for players for the west coast.

My game has crashed mid-game nearly constantly today after reinstalling the game after a few days and now it’s saying I’m banned. This game is a joke.

And yet so many seem to only play for that.

Then Infinite is truly doomed.
