This is all so -Yoink- ridiculous.

I honestly can’t believe that this is Halo I’m looking at.

Billion and a half pre-order bonuses for a bunch of game-altering nonsense exclusive through retailers bundled with content that doesn’t even exist yet.

I think there’s a reason I stopped caring about Halo, and I’m fairly sure this is it. Halo is going balls-deep in the generic shooter public pool, and in more ways than just pimping itself out to custom loadouts, perks (Yes, they’re -Yoinking!-’ perks), and weapon skins. This isn’t the Halo I grew up with, and I’d be fine with that if they were actually doing something original with it.

Rather than attempt to forge their own new ground and really develop their own identity, it’s becoming increasingly clear that despite all of their PR-talk, 343 is shamelessly ripping pages from CoD’s playbook, scribbling some crayon over it and saying “LOOK IT’S HALO NOW!”. The gameplay may still have shields and BRs, but everything else is just so damn generic. I honestly chucked (I’m way too jaded to be upset anymore), by the fact that Halo 4 has a -Yoink- exclusive Best Buy skin that might as well have their label slapped all over it.

343, you guys had a chance to do your own thing with Halo…And this is what you do? Really? You had all the funding and backing in the world, and you decide “…-Yoink- it let’s just look at what every other shooter is doing. That’ll be good enough.”

Talk about lazy design. Sorry, but if you guys honestly believe that what you’re doing is something original and unique you’ve got your head on as upside down as Australia. I have no doubt that Halo 4 will be a competent, well-built, relatively bug-free FPS that has all the bells and whistles of a modern console game.

But we already have that. We have been spoon-fed this progression-system weapon-unlock customize-your-loadout stuff so many times before. I honestly don’t understand why you felt that Halo needed to just stuff itself in with that crowd.

“YEP! WE’RE ONE OF YOU NOW! LOOK AT ME I’M AN FPS ON THE ECKSBAWKS!”

Look, I still love you guys. Frankie, Jessica, and all you wonderful designers, artists, producers, what have you. You guys are great, and this isn’t a personal attack on any of you. You’re doing your jobs and making the best of it. I just don’t get what’s motivating you to go down such a generic, beaten path.

I could go on all day. Let’s just leave it at this: Halo 4 will not be bad for the series, or a bad game. What Halo 4 will do is reserve Halo’s seat at the “Generic FPS” table.

It’s about as bittersweet as it gets.

Game altering?

lol, they’re just skins, don’t get your -Yoink!- in a twist.

When you get to pre-order perks, that’s game altering.

Don’t kid yourself =P

Yeah…I’m not head over heels for Halo 4 either, but I’m at least going to give it a shot.

> Yeah…I’m not head over heels for Halo 4 either, but I’m at least going to give it a shot.

It’s a guaranteed rent for the story, that’s for sure. I’m never going to stop playing Halo’s campaigns.

But is that really worth 60 bucks? Nah. I’d beat it in 8 hours and want to sell it, in all likelihood. 10 dollars for a week to play the campaign and try the multiplayer? Now we’re talkin’.

Oh, unless they pull some online pass BS. Then they can kiss my money goodbye forever.

Link please.

From what i know, all we get to pre-order are skins which are in no way “game altering”

Also to my knowledge the “perks” will come with the LE. NOT pre-ordering from certain sites.

Who gives a -Yoink-? You’re still basically purchasing upgrades before the game is even out.

That alone is pretty much pre-order bonuses at their worst.

Pre ordering perks?

Where?

Also, does it really matter about all these pre order skins. I see everyone complain how bad they look, then complain they can’t have them.

It is a bit odd, but it really won’t make a huge difference to the game.

A different colour spartan could not affect gameplay less, so it doesn’t matter that much

EDIT: Time, Frankie already said no to Online passes.

There is Spartan Ops, you know, the episodic mission deal they have going on that, as far as I know, completely free. That $10 bucks a week would grow much bigger if we go by your logic. And really, if I hate it I’ll keep the Limited Edition stuff and take the game back and get Pokemon Black 2 or White 2, that is my back-up.

Or you’re deliberately being misleading to get your “point” across.

I disagree with most of what your saying, 343i is not just ‘ripping pages out of Cod and scribbling ideas’ and so on… It is Innovation. I actually like 90% of what they are doing. I do think that the weapon Skins is sketchy, But 343i is doing what they can to keep people like you (the older player) and attract new gamers.

They are not just going to make a Halo that pleases everyone. I am just happy that 343i is trying to keep the legacy going. Bungie may of made great games before but they obviously showed how much they cared for the Halo community in there last game, Reach.

Reach was an alright game but I think as Bungie’s last Halo it was poorly made.

Those are specializations, not perks, and please tell me, what are they? you can’t? so you can’t say it’s unfair

Spartan Points = CoD Points
Specializations = Perks.
Spartan Ops might as well be Spec Ops. Only difference is a little story thrown in there.
Ranking system based on EXP.
Unlock everything with Spartan Points.
Custom loadouts utilizing the stuff you unlock with Spartan Points.

Seriously, how is this not exactly like CoD, or really any modern shooter?

Oh, and for everyone looking for a link to pre-order perks, you should really read the bulletins better.

> Sorry, but if you guys honestly believe that what you’re doing is something original and unique you’ve got your head on as upside down as Australia.

Oi! It’s not us, all yous are the wrong way around!

Money. It stops big developers from trying anything unique or breaking away from the status quo, because there’s always that risk it’ll be a huge flop and they won’t be able to recoup financially. Do what’s been done before, alter some things slightly, tell your consumers it’s “innovation” and most are happy.

Why are you so negative to a game that hasn’t been released and is far from it?

Yeah, like CoD invented in-game money.

You don’t know what specializations are, and those Perks are AA’s.

Oh, what’s wrong with Co-Op DLC?, that it was in CoD first?.

You don’t know how you gain Exp, and i remember Halo 3 had, and how did you won it? Wining matches.

Not everything.

I’ll give you that.

Please don’t be so stupid and blind. They are obviously copying the number 1 game on the market.

Then Why don’t instead of saying something you prove it?

Same here, I like most of what they are doing.

IMO, I think custom loadouts sounds like a cool idea.
