I’m so tired of having to re-download the whole game time and time again with my third world internet speed.
This is the ONLY game I’ve ever played that has this problem, I refuse to believe this is an Xbox Marketplace issue, this is certainly a 343/CA issue because it has only ever happened with this title for me.
I left the thing downloading and 9 hours later it was still stuck at 0% and read “installation stopped”. Now it is running but downloading the whole game… For like the fourth time…
I think the community deserves an explanation for this or a reasonable answer as to when if ever will it be fixed.
Yep I was keen to get the update over and done with, until I saw it say 0 out of 44GB or so…that is when I decided to uninstall the -Yoink!- game. Its given me too much trouble, from broken seasons waiting weeks or a month for a patch to constant crashes/desyncs etc…The download wasn’t even interrupted, I had nothing in the background (this was a few mins after launching my Xbox) and I clicked the download, and saw I had to do it all again. No thanks. Hardly worth it.

Problem is I already paid for ATN

Oh wow I see, I was going to wait to pull the trigger, however due to the wrong Aus region pricing (approx $7 usd more than RRP) I decided not to. Which is fortunate, as I can now just get rid of the game.
In your case, I wouldn’t know what to do other than leave it in instant on mode over a few days running passively.
It’s weird. I never had to redownload the whole game, nor has it ever stopped at zero and I’ve seen people on the forum mention it. I guess I’m lucky but it’s a bummer for the others
If download is frozen the only solution is a factory reset of your xbox.
i havent bought atn and my game still got flipped over
this is the second time something like this happens to me
one time i had a 5gb gears of war 4 update after the update when i launched the game it crashed and a new update popped up, guess what? it was the entire game so i just uninstalled
and now its happening on halo wars 2
so i have to reinstall halo wars 2 again…

Mine was frozen and I just cancelled it and did a hard reset. When I turned it back on it made me reinstall the whole game but it’s way better than a factory reset.

Did you uninstall first, by any chance?
My BF had a similar issue and uninstalled it as it wouldn’t let him reinstall without uninstalling first, but when he did, the whole thing became corrupt. He reinstalled it and now has two copies taking up a total of 79.4GB on his HDD and he is unable to remove the 32GB corrupted version of the game. 32G completely lost and can’t be removed.
For some people, a factory reset of our Xboxs is NOT a viable option. Our accounts are over 10+ years old and we have accumulated a ton of content and game saves over the years. Not gonna sit here for DAYS and redownload that much content.

I didn’t click uninstall. My installing was at “Updating 0%” so I clocked pause, then cancel, and before it even stopped I held the power button to hard reset. After that I just clicked on the game and it presented the update, though it was all 41 gigs of the full game.
I’m sorry about your corruption issue. I haven’t had that problem myself. I understand you have a 10 year old account but your Xbox can’t be more than 4 years old. That’s still a lot of content but the download wouldn’t take forever. The best thing is your game saves will be fine (thank the cloud) and are almost readily accessible after a factory reset. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that but if it does I’d start redownloading first what you would like play the most.

Exactly what I was thinking. Your Xbox can blow up and all your saves would still be intact, just redownload the games you play and it should be all fine. Of course this is very very annoying and we shouldn’t have to do this, but this is one of the reasons the cloud exists.

It’s just the point of the whole thing. With all the backwards compatible games available, Free with Gold, and the current gen games being so large these days, it would be such a hassle to redownload a large library like that to have at the ready for those spur of the moment times you just wanna hop into something and play for awhile. And obviously we know not everyone has the best of internet speeds, so for some, this could be a real nightmare.
I want 343, etc to find a way to fix this issue without forcing customers to have to go to those kinds of inconvenient measures, and would rather bring it to their attention vs. giving in to the alternative to give them any reason to run to a factory reset as the only viable option, instead of actually doing something about it.
Tried to get on hw2 and it made me install the whole game again only to be stuck at 9.22 gb on 2 different occasions. This is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. And it’s only happened on hw2.I have no words to describe how frustrating this is.I’m just glad I didn’t buy Atn before this happened
It seems that every update, I have to download the whole game again. There has to be a better way!
