What if all players spawned with all armor abilities off start.
All AA could share a cool down timer. The control scheme would work as follows.
Hold A and a direction for thrusters. Double tap A for jump jet (double jump).
- while moving you cannot fire (weapon is lowered)
- can perform while sheilds are down but would leave you vulnerable because you cant attack.
Crouch to activate camo
- getting hit while cloaked could disable it, restarting cooldown
- starts at full invisible but you become more visible over 10 seconds
- cannot cloak when shields are down
the d-pad (left and right) could be used to switch between abilites like hardlight shield, promethean vision, regeneration field, and auto turret
- these abilites could be activated by pressing the left-bumper
Sprint could have its own dedicated button as per the current control layout
This is a crazy idea, but it could fix some of the problems with unequal starts.
What does everybody think?
Eh…Hmm…Um…NO!
this would give people too much power
How about AAs just being map pick ups or possible Ordinance replacements?

What this guy said.

I like this idea. It’d be a good mix between the Equipment system from Halo 3, having the Armour Abilities being predictable and controllable, while still bringing int the innovation from Reach.
I think giving us all of the abilities off of spawn would be too much. It’s just copying off of Crysis, and would make the game too complex. Remember, simple is often better, especially when it comes to Halo.
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes… The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!
When you said “crazy”, you were not kidding. I can see all kinds of trouble brewing up if this were implemented.

That is just the tip of the iceberg.

Okay … crazyness over.
But going on your idea would be good as well. AA’s should be map pickups with limited batteries. Once the batteries are dead you discard the ability. The number of uses would depend on the type of ability.
Hardlight and camo would drain based on time active and hits taken, while something like regen or autoturret will have a couple of uses. Some abilities like a drop shield or power drainer would be single use.
When you die others can pick up the ability with the remaining charge.
duplicates can either recharge your current ability or swap if they have a greater charge (ie plasma weapons)
I’m fine with AA’s as they are, I do think it needs tweaking though

Exactly SpartanT110. I think we share this option.
Otherwise it’d be too complicated in my option. Especially if you’re controller is a bit damaged due it’s long service. I already have problems with sprint (thanks to my thumb-sticks). Yes, it isn’t an excuse why I think your idea is not good.
I immediately associated to the Nanosuit from Crysis. I think, everybody knows, why Crysis’s multi-payer is abandoned. The thing that worked well in Campaign, isn’t too good in multi-player especially for the competitive side. I think we all know what is competitive since most of them says “I’m done with Halo” and made creepy forum posts and topics and now our peak population isn’t more then 40,000 players. Competitive community have serious power.
If I were a multi-player designer, I would leave the AAs as they are now and I’d disable them for competitive (or classic, as you prefer it) play, or turn them into map pickups. If sprint stays in it’s current state (I hope so. One of the best executed things in Halo 4. Map movement more so destroyed by ordinances and instant spawns. Seriously, Sprint is one of the least problematic thing in Halo 4.) it should be enough for competitive (classic) play. No other AAs needed there because it is more so a built in AA. Also, if the competitive community don’t want sprint, I’d disable it for their play-list (just like the AAs before).
