They have taken the skill levels out of the game…and that is the problem. Any person can pick it up and start playing.
The main complaint about Halo 2? Any soccer mom can play.
AR is too powerful mid-range. You can’t miss with it close range. They have finally made the perfect spray and pray weapon
I actually like the BR…
DMR is ok. But now that hip fire is so much easier…you get raped when you DONT START WITH A PRIMARY WEAPON.
Why have people not learned this yet? Midship is impossible if you die and the other team all have DMRs or BRs.
I have played this game from Hale CE and it has been going downhill since. I thought 343 could bring the old school feel back to life.
You seemed like you were going in the right direction with Halo 4 and bringing back some old maps.
But then this? How do I go from owning one game to getting owned the next? I will go off for a few games then get raped for couple more.
It is because the skill level is gone.
Please don’t come on here and say “THEN DONT PLAY. I LOVE IT” Yes I know… you noobs love that you can keep up with better players.
You will not have my money for Halo 5. But I will keep testing your beta in hopes that you fix things.
Good grief, this is a BETA folks. There is time for change and time for buff/nerf. Skill level is actually probably skewed right now to two groups. People that have loved Halo for years, bought MCC so they could play the old games and matchmaking on the new console, or people that have never played the Halo games (or only casually) and the matchmaking over there was a train wreck, so they aren’t skilled. You don’t have a giant community and some of us are just knocking the dust off. I have never been an epic player, but when I’ve been playing for a while, I’m not too bad, but last night I had some terrible matches. Sorry if you played with me.
Agreed that the AR needs a nerf, but it is interesting that they at least made it a weapon that people will play with. Back in the previous games, anyone running with an AR was typically very new or unskilled, as experience taught that you’d die trying to take out a BR/DMR with one. It’s just gone too far with the smart scope and the distance the spray can kill. I’d like to see it keep some usefulness, but since the SMG is pretty wicked right now, I don’t see where they fit it in. People should have some reason to want to pick up the weapons, but I can’t count the times I’d see people run past the snipes just because the AR was too good.

what is so great about CE!? I find it kinda boring, especially since you start with a gun that even makes the power weapons look pretty bad. I really hate all the old school elitists who think Halo 1 is god tier. I played hang em high KoTH in MCC and went something like 44-8 just standing on top of the map and spawnkilling. If you think that’s map control it isn’t. I sat on top where I could easily back up to avoid taking bullets myself and spawnkilled. That’s camping. Nothing great and skillfull about it. And them spawning with magnums didn’t help at all.

I understand that it is the beta, but most of what you see is going to be in the actual game. This is just for us to find bugs and for them to test it out before they release it.
Complaining isn’t going to change anything…but it makes me feel better!

because the AR and SMG get way too much range. I have no problem with powerful automatics, but you still should have to pace your fire to shoot them accurately and they shouldn’t get huge bonuses to scope in (something 343 said wouldn’t happen yet it clearly does.

Yeah… You probably weren’t playing anyone even halfway decent on hangem. Pistol isn’t over powered when facing someone with the same skill level.
i liken all halo games after CE to bowling with bumpers… It makes it so noobs can hit more pins with the potential strike to compete with better players… The bumpers can interfere with a good bowlers style… Making the game closer. This isn’t balance in a good way… You shouldn’t try to balance everyone’s skill level… That’s what kid games are for. You balance the game. That’s why ranking systems are good. Noob vs noob equals close match up. Pro vs pro equals close match up… Pro vs noob equals domination. Intermediate vs novice equals a pretty easy win for the intermediate player…
I know this is a beta… And I will hope they come up with customizations for the weapons that will allow people to play more like Halo CE, where balance was great.

Read what Weird Smiley wrote. That sums it up.
I started out a noob on Halo CE and slowly got better and better. Halo CE was so amazing, that LAN centers started having tournaments.
Before that, you could only find Madden tournaments or PC games at LAN centers. People would travel with Xbox in hand to another city
to play LAN (we didn’t have Xbox Live) Halo CE made Halo great. I really believe it helped bring about Xbox Live.
When you played someone with your same skill level, you would have epic games. It would make you feel even better if you beat a team
that was better than yours.
Now, the difference between skill levels have been greatly reduced. The lines smudged. I have never had an epic game on Halo 2, 3,Reach,
4 or now the beta. Never had that game to where we had to really think and plan to come back and win. You don’t have to think in the new
games. Just go out and spray and pray.

It is because of the broken ranking and match making system. You are not being matched against people with similar skills.
The skill level needed is still there. I’ve lost a lot of battles that I could have won simply because I screwed up. All I can do is try to learn from it.
I’ve also lost a lot of battles because the other person is far and above better than me. With my limited skills there is no way I should ever have been matched against them.
