Ok I know this isn’t Halo 4 specualation or anything, just something that happened to me and I want to share it. Dont flame
This was me in English class today
Teacher: so proto means first, just like prototype, like lets say a company will release a prototype of a game before they release the real game for people to test it online etc
Me: well not always, some video game developers believe that game prototypes or betas just take up too much time and stop the development process.for reasons to make the game better
Teacher: well that is stupid, why would they do that? The game would have a lot of bugs, thats a terrible idea for a game company.
Me: -_-
Lol.
THIS GAME HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR 3 YEARS.
BUT WE HAVE NO TIME TO RELEASE A BETA.
> Lol.

We could have time actually.
But Frankie assumes that a beta would be a waste of resources and it would push the release date back. It’s also interfering with a polishing process. ATM that’s things anyways.
betas for consoles r like big advertisements,
all the complainers r just mad because they dont gt to play the game early.
no that im happy about it but lets see what they do with all the extra time and resource they wwould have put into a beta
I agree with you guys. I think we will be better off without one. It will make the overall game better, mould you rather have a small multiplayer beta for 2 weeks, with blown up servers, and a slightly messed up halo 4 with an early 2013 release date
Or no beta and an awesome Halo 4 with an earlier release date. It’s clear what we want, people are just greedy
Its a nice idea…
But the Halo: Reach beta is was distorted Halo Reach.
Too many people jumped on the ‘band wagon’ and decided to give Bungie ill feedback.
People who’d never even played a Halo game before were mindless posting about balance issues. I personally remembering arguing with a few on the Bungie forums.
It would be even worse for Halo 4 because everyone does not want 343i to “stuff” it up.
To the OP…
You’re Teacher is right… But not in contrast to what 343 is trying to achieve
Unfortunately the majority of the beta ‘testers’ for Halo are mindless when it comes to the whole communities needs.
Clearly I dont think the Teacher knows alot about 343 >_>;;;
Frankie did say they were throughly testing the game and there was no need for a beta. Don’t worry guys I’m sure they are going over every inch of the game.
Its always better to let the community go over your game. Just saying.
lol at op and first comment
Sure I want a beta. Why? The same reason as everyone else: I want to play the game early. I could act like you guys and say that “it will help out the game because we will get a playthrough to work out the kinks” but you and I both know that that isn’t true. Console betas are demos, nothing more
I guess I’m late to the “Let’s all believe 343i is all powerful and incapable of error” party. Your teacher is probably right. But knowing games companies today, betas are no longer betas, in the sense that they are now demos. They are not used to test the game nor to get feedback. If people feel that x is over powered it will not be fixed in the final version, nor will a, b, c or d, but they might just fix that small texture clipping issue rather than any game play flaws. My guess is that they’re not having a beta because they think that A: We’ll all hate it, B: It’ll decrease hype or C: Both.
Welcome to the games industry. I like to call it my own personal hell.
LoLz, I know how you feel OP. XD

To the uninformed.

I am against the beta aswell.
Every game published goes a “beta stage” in production, that’s what your teacher was talking about, not a public beta.
Your teacher had a point.
But it only applies to some games. Games, say, like Halo which have been in dev. for 3 years don’t really need a beta for bugs necessarily, but to get a gauge on what the community thinks.
Make a beta? Are you insane?
Making a beta would just be another reason for you spoiled guys to -Yoink- and complain about!
Cool story bro.
Haha yeah it sucks, but honestly the only reason I see this as the case is because there are no 360 exclusives coming out before Halo 4 that would need the beta packed in to increase sales.
