Came home and after 48hrs break, forgave and tried again. Fought for hours, a lot of repetition, the same hours long slog fresh in my memory. But I did it. I got to the end of the gravemind (again) This time, not having to get up for work tomorrow, took a break before the end point and got through it much smoother.
Content I could now safely save, I watched the cut scene and thought I’d check out a little of the next level before bed and watched it load.
The screen goes black. An update is required. Classy, mid game I thought, but maybe this is the patch to fix my bugs?
It installs without any warning of what’s to come. My heart sinks when after, I see the game load from scratch. It goes through the floor when I see the save didn’t happen.
My progress is wiped. I’m back where I was 5 hours ago.
AGAIN.
Back where I was originally Monday, before foolishly trusting a pre cut scene save to record my progress.
My last post was written with empathy and understanding to publisher pressure and the insanity of the Xmas release schedule.
But this is on you. Pushing an update mid game with no warning progress will be lost. 10 hours of repetition down, with 1/2 that again to come. What’s to say it won’t happen again? That’s torturous and unforgiveably poor QA
