This is a joke lmao

how dumb it sounds you think a single helmet is worth 7 bucks? nearly the same price as the battle pass or the mythic map pack? yeah

I once paid like $40 for a LC skin in DOTA2, and that was like 12 years ago. This stuff ain’t new people.

Man this conversation is just going right over your head. You run head first into the point over and over again and still miss it.

sure dude, yknow youre probably a hell of a lot less smart than you think you are

Whilst I do understand the point of you are trying to make, that in comparison there are worse examples of microtransactions out there, something being not as bad as something else doesn’t automatically make it good.

For example, being kicked in the balls, on balance, isn’t as bad as having someone fire bullets into your legs, arms then face. With that being said, I still don’t want to be kicked in the balls.

Regardless all anyone needs to do to counter the argument of X game is even worse, is by pointing to a single game that either does microtransactions better or doesn’t include them at all. Therefore I’ll say that Halo Infinite is bad because in Goldeneye I never had to pay to unlock anything.

That’s nice and all… If you have a problem, just don’t buy it…

That simple lol

Giving more attention to it just enables more people who aren’t poor to go out and afford it is all. The more people who buy it, the less chance things will change going forward with 343i.

lmao what?

The issue with this is that, presumably, you’re not having to choose whether you’d rather be kicked in the balls or shot with a gun. Using your example, here’s what the scenario is like:

ā€œIf you let me kick you in the balls, I will give you a hat. If you let me shoot you with a gun, you get a better hat. However if you don’t want a hat, you can just say you don’t want to get kicked in the balls or shot.ā€

There’s a third option in your hypothetical: ā€œI’d rather not engage with this scenario at all and I won’t be injured.ā€

And then in this round of backwards logic I’ll say that literally every game you’ve ever paid for is bad because I played completely free flash shooters that didn’t have any microtransactions at all.

My argument wasn’t that Path of Exile is better/worse. It’s that the price tags for Halo Infinite’s MTX aren’t outrageous by F2P industry standards.

But that doesn’t address the argument of X is worse than Y therefore Y is good, which appeared to be the argument you were making by introducing a comparison to the pricing in a completely different game.

Ultimately if you don’t have an issue with how microtransactions are implemented in Halo Infinite then that’s your choice and you are entitled to that opinion but that doesn’t mean that we will all agree with you.

Those that are feeding back to 343 that they aren’t happy with the current state of microtransactions aren’t looking for other customers to tell them they don’t think it’s bad or something else that exists is worse, they want 343 to listen to them, to acknowledge them and to do something to improve things for the better. Now 343 said they would do that but so far they have not lived up to all of the promises that they have made, it’s perfectly acceptable for their customers to hold them to account for that.

Nope. My argument wasn’t that it was good or bad. It was that the prices aren’t inherently outrageous when compared to other areas of the F2P market. I picked Path of Exile because the game doesn’t sell anything that confers an advantage (similar to Halo Infinite) and aside from convenience items like stash pages, everything in the store is cosmetic. As a result, the Path of Exile community generally favors that monetization strategy.

That’s totally fine. And just like how people are voicing their opinions that $7 is too much for a helmet, I’ll pop into the same public thread and make my own comments.

343 has, though. We’re getting single items implemented into the store (it’s an okay first step, but I’d rather things still be in bundles, but have the option to buy things individually from within the bundle, or purchase the bundle for a total discount), there has been a price reduction for several item types, and this is the first time we’re seeing a helmet as a solo armor piece.

I’m sure they’re no doubt looking at the forums and their store metrics to see how the community is reacting to the lone helmet item.

Well it’s a public forum, and if someone doesn’t like my opinions about MTX then they can just set me to ignore so that they never see my comments. I’m okay with that.

Well the actual issue with this isn’t that the helmet alone is 700, it’s that this is the most mediocre way of implementing single items outside of bundles. Now as far as I’m aware, this helmet hasn’t appeared in any other bundle yet, right?

What they should do (and I’m assuming this would take UI/tech work to get implemented) is take the Sea of Thieves approach. Bundle costs 2000 credits, individual items cost 500-700 credits, so if you only want the helmet, you can buy the helmet. Or you can buy the bundle for 2000.
