This infection looks pretty darn good

It’s not like flood, where they tried to put a bit of spin on it and it ultimately failed. This looks like a worthy successor to classic infection. If there’s one thing extremely great about halo 5, it’s the weapon balancing, and thankfully, it has carried over to infection. I can see why we don’t have pistols as they are extremely powerful and the halo 5 AR has about the same range as the halo 3 pistol.

I’m glad they didn’t just carbon copy infection then add their own personal flare to it. This looks like they realized what worked in the original infection, then tweaked it to make it balanced and fun. Bravo 343, I can’t wait to play it!

Here is the infection gameplay.

It reminds me a lot of Hivemind from Halo 4. It had AR pistol starts and weapons on the map, as well as changes to health and damage among others. It was really fun and I’m glad 343i created a fusion of the classic Infection and Hivemind.

I’m looking forward to what the community can do with it, especially with a Gravity Hammer (which wasn’t in H2A) and a Forge that blows every other iteration out of the water.

I’m especially looking forward to what can be done with stuff relating to physics, considering stuff doesn’t lock on placement (even on the Normal state) as opposed to Reach. Maybe we can actually have a decent remake/inspiration of Jenga or the Vent?

EDIT: Clarified what I meant.

Imagine the new Fatkid. Or Cops 'n Robbers with the Phaeton.

I’m looking forward to trying it out.

Agreed. I just watched the video, and I think 343 nailed what the community wanted. They knew Halo 4’s Flood was bit of a bust due to the Infected’s inability to use weapons besides “the arm”, so they went ahead and went back to the more classic versions of Infection for inspiration. On top of that I’ll note that I love Halo 5’s weapon balancing, so I’m more than glad 343 understands their strong suits and are carrying them over to Infection. Good job, 343.

Positivety is key and I like how this is a parralel to the most popular one right now. It looks fun and cool from what I saw and will be definitely play it

Me.

Let’s just hope we get the custom options we want.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. This infection was never going to be a straight copy of previous versions, and I like the look of this new iteration.

It is overall looking very promising.

I’m very happy that they’re bringing Hivemind back in one way or another. Hivemind, and especially Last Stand, are my favorite variants of Infection to have ever graced the Living Dead playlists.

It’s also pretty dang nice that they’ve adjusted the Survivors’ initial ammo on spawn. Instead of the usual, the Shotgun comes with no spare shells while the AR comes with one spare clip. While I do think that might be too little starting ammo (I’ll have to play it of course before I can make my mind up), it’s nice to see that they’re adjusting the off-spawn ammo to help balance the gametype more, which is something I loved about with the Survivor weapon variants in H2A.

They’re doing nearly everything right right off the bat. Heck, friendly fire looks to be disabled Day1, like say what? I mean, we’ve already got Infection-specific maps and community-made maps right off the bad, and now friendly fire is also disabled? I posted in another thread the few issues I already see, but outside of those few, which are very minor compared to previous Day1 Living Dead playlist releases, this is overall looking very amazing for Day1.

Usually if something looks too good to be true, then it probably is. But this does not look like the case at all, which just makes me so freaking happy.

I’m still hoping for a Flood skin that can be enabled/disabled, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to be a thing, which will honestly have me quite sad if that’s true. :,(

Also, gotta wonder if the Infected Sword will have its own unique assassination. Man am I hoping so, because the ones in Halo 4 were siiick!

Let’s just hopes 343i updates the playlist regularly, aka not every 8 months twice like they did with the Flood playlist in Halo 4. Granted, those two updates were amazing, but the wait between both updates were 8 months apart, which is waaay too long to have to wait for an update.

I cant wait for infection to shoot zombies with a shotgun

I think they said that we’d be getting all of the custom game options in the video.

Judging from what is said in the teaser video the custom options should be huge! Literally everything can be turned on and off.

I honestly can’t wait

You should publish this great piece.
