This happened with the last 2 Halo games. I remember how much hate Halo 4 & 5 got when they were released. When Halo 7 releases, it’ll be the same again.
F2P is proven to make more money than just selling games for 60$. Which is fine.
The Campaign is still 60$.
343i/MS did this to make more money. Make no mistake. This was not some humanitarian move that they need to finance with MACROtransactions.

Are you saying that Free to Play games don’t try and exploit people with poor impulse control? I agree, that people don’t need to fall prey to it, but that doesn’t make the practice of trying to manipulate people into paying more money than they want moral or respectable. And 343 is using the same manipulation tactics other Free to Play games do. Including FOMO, which they said they wouldn’t do. So yeah, people have a right to be upset.

I guess you’ve been in a coma the last 6+ years where triple-A game studios have been repeatedly caught using scummy, gambling style, techniques designed to hook people and exploit those with lacking impulse control? And then skirt responsibility for it by saying, “But we’re not actually a gambling system!”
Blaming people for falling victim to deceptive and exploitative marketing practices and saying its their fault or they should know better? That’s the same argument made by casinos and big tobacco to avoid regulation and responsibility for their actions. You sure you want to be in the company of those two industries?

They had an entire year + the do’s and do nots literally told to them on a silver platter when it comes to Halo. Ain’t no one tell them to do any of the nonsense they are doing right now. I haven’t spent a dime btw cause I won’t support this scummy practice. They want to fix this? Do this on day one launch.
Release a Halo game where I can freely customize my colors at the very least. Thing has less content than a freaking 2007 Halo game and you’re going to tell me it’s all hunky dory cause it’ll be fixed later? This is why the gaming industry is deteriorating.

I’ll calmly explain to her that I had to support 343 this hard. Who else will pay them the money they deserve so they can do things like eat and keep the servers up and running for us lowly peasants? She’ll understand.
The psychologists should be fired. If they knew even an oz about Halo they’d have known this wouldn’t go over well with the fans.

The stickers that constitute half of the armor bundles are no laughing matter, nor should they be mocked or called out for being overpriced filler, I am glad you have realized the positive impact they can have on your wallet and relationships.

Yup, gambling is designed to be psychologically manipulative and there are people that genuinely get addicted to it.
Video games have been taking points from the gambling industry for yeeeaaaarrrrrsssss. Started with MMO’s and now everything has these psychological dark patterns and hooks to try to get you to spend money. Like the intro’s and outro’s at the start of Infinite, those only exist to show off fancy skins and trigger jealousy/FOMO and cause people to go spend time/money to obtain that skin/stance/whatever. It’s a minor thing, and even looks cool gameplay wise, but there’s no reason for those scenes to exist other than to advertise skins and trigger a response.
It’s quite honestly getting tiring at this point. When every brand new game is introducing all these weeklies and dailies and challenges and passes and things to keep you coming back every day it just turns video games into a job instead of a fun pass time/hobby.
Should see some of the phone apps legit 300$ for this product only for a small return
The negative impacts the store and how it is structured can have on people with some type of disorder never occured to me, and I am surprised but also not at why it isn’t brought up more. It really should be discussed more.

How can I criticize 343? They’ve given me so many great launch day titles such as Halo 4, Halo 5, and the Halo MCC. There were no issues in those games. I only had to double mortgage my house, twice, to get all the req cards in H5, not too bad in my opinion. It could’ve been far far more expensive!
I think they should take a nice long break until after winter is over, they make such a great playlist for us, the objective games are the best part of Halo. Anyone who says we need a slayer playlist is crazy, Halo is what 343 tell us it is!
