Read the full thing before typing “b-b-but the guys who quit need to be banned” i’m tired of playing Arena or Warzone Assault with my friends and right before we win one of them lag out, and then gets banned for about 7 hours. It’s happened to me a few times in Arena, trust me, I rarely EVER quit games, usually when I’m the last guy left on my team, I send the other team a message telling them to assassinate me or get ground pound kills on me.
It just kills me how unstable the servers can be sometimes and you get banned for lagging out, its pathetic. I understand that people who ACTUALLY quit games need punishment, but for the guys who lag out, make the bans not as long 343. I hate having to play ONLY Warzone for a day (until my friend gets off)

There is no way to measure somebody leaving a game by quitting or lagging out. As a TF2 frequent player on PC, yeah quitting and lagging out of a game can’t be measured.

The problem isn’t the banhammer, its the crappy servers. The banhammer should stay, but the servers absolutely need to be fixed.
Measuring if someone quits by leaving the game is VERY EASY to code. Disconnecting internet is difficult to recognize, as it’s hard to tell which side is the problem. However, you can get some reasonable estimates whether people rage quit by determining if they usually lag out when they are winning/playing good or when they are losing or playing really bad.

But then players can just circumvent that by doing something like turning off their router or disconnecting their Xbox
The problem is yes the servers are pretty bad in some places and people do disconnect but if you change a disconnect ban from a quit ban then anyone who wants to quit the game will just turn off their internet to avoid a harsher ban

I believe the banhammer already looks at these things to look for patterns. I have lagged out of a good number of matches but have never purposefully quit, i have never received a ban so it would appear to be working (for me at least)
You can’t distinguish between Someone Pushing their Xbox Off, Turning their Modem off, or anything other then pressing Start and Selecting to Quit. That’s why you can’t have the Hammer not work for all types of quitting, if it’s a rare occurrence of lag or a problem on the server this shouldn’t result in a ban unless it happens daily.

i was banned for no reason for 3 days for “quitting” i didn’t it lagged out and lied and said i quit it’s not fair this has to be removed
I have had it happen to me several times before… but what you need to ask yourself is would you rather people quit more not get banned for it or occasionally being banned because you lagged out? I don’t know about you guys but i can’t stand when people quit and leave you there to die.
This really infuriates me to no end, but there is no way of seeing if someone forcefully cut the connection to the server, or if the connection was genuinely lost. No other game Dc’s me and it seems too always happen at the VERY END like when the satst are going to come up. So its 343 servers that need a good looking at.
Yeah, me and my friend playing then one person has big lag during in game then my friend quit one time then my friend got banned!! Then I quit one time I don’t get banned!!! How come that weird!
