CORTANA LIVES! or pulling our legs?
While she is dead, Cortana is supposed to make an appearance. Whether that will be only her voice or an actual illusion that the Chief sees is yet to be discovered.
I think he will see (hallucinate) her, and maybe be tortured by it.

“And with all due respect to you, soldier, I’m not willing to jeopardize my ship because of the hallucinations of an aging spartan and his malfunctioning AI!” Captain Del Rio
I highly doubt that Master Chief is hallucinating.
Well seeing as how it only goes up to Halo 4’s incarnation of Cortana, as well as the fact it’s from Xbox Australia’s page, I think it’s just an ill-worded chronology post meant to garner likes. Wouldn’t read anything into it at all.

So what role do you think she’ll play? I suppose MC hallucinating does paint him as old and broken. You never know though, they could be working up to his demise or retirement for the future (I hope not).

The wording is very deliberate and calculated though (of course i could be wrong).

I don’t think so. I think the wording is strictly referring to the picture’s chronology, which goes from 2001-2012. I think whoever posted it just sort of forgot that in the context of Halo 4’s ending their statement is a little off. Also I highly doubt whoever posts for Xbox Australia’s Facebook page knows any more about the upcoming game than we do. This post was most likely just a promotion for/referring to the MCC.
I wouldn’t rule out Cortana’s return.
I could see her coming back.
With Frankie saying her fate at the end of Halo 4 was clear and every subsequent piece of media about her confirming she died, even Halo 4 itself did this, I don’t think there is any big meaning behind the Facebook post. Cortana will be in Halo 5, but as a “ghost” (Frankie’s words) and that has a lot of terrible implications to anyone well-verse in the lore.

He already hallucinated Cortana in Halo 3. And we know he hallucinates her in Halo 5, there’s a scene where he wakes up in a cave and Cortana tells him the Domain is open.
Well, we know that she does at least have a character model in Halo 5.

Those weren’t hallucinations in Halo 3, she was communicating with him, and Gravemind piggy backed. Chief and Cortana bonded on a neurological level. How could she communicate with John directly faster than light, almost like ESP, you ask? It’s all a part of Halsely’s plan to conquer rampancy - this is what she ment when she said all her lines of research were converging. Cortana is unlike any other A.I in human history [She was born in “Oz”]. There will be no more sadness, no more envy, no more anger (Halo 3). She already won, and she declared it triumphantly. She is deceiving Medicant Bias, luring him into a trap, he pursues reconstitution[Halo 3 terminals], and he will have his wish, but one seventh(?) of him will be consumed entirely by one thought (one word , one feeling, one singular noncognitive desire) alone: absolution [Halo 4 rebirth silentium]. Then Cortana will return, Light and Balance will merge (again, and many times hence), a law of physics literally demands it. If I had to guess Oni, Halsely, Latsky and Osiris are attempting to stop Chief from awakening -Yoink!-…Medicant, they probably correctly deduce he was responsible for Cortana’s apparent death, after among other things Halsely informs them Cortana shouldn’t of gone rampant already, even generic 3rd gen smart A.Is have been known to live to be atleast 14 years, Cortana is… different. They likely assume Cortana’s “ghost” is actually medicant bias deceiving him into freeing the final shard of his personality. The Light cannot be extinguished. She will return.
If they bring her back, they better not oversexualize her. It was hard paying attention to the Halo 4 story some of the time, when Cortana was present.
But really, please just keep her dead. She’s SO annoying.

I agree. Part of me really wants Cortana to be alive, and hopefully well. Sadly, I don’t think Halo 5 will be nice to me in that regard.

Um… I’m kinda wondering about this part…
Also, Cortana will return as a ghost or something

When Cortana’s on stage he spends more time admiring her ‘feminine form’ than the story at hand?
Though he did also say she’s annoying so maybe not.

Oversexualize? She’s just a human female silhouette. Oversexualizing is giving her large breasts that shake when she moves, and very unrealistic curves with her hips and butt. Look up some anime -Yoink- if you want to see oversexualized woman.
Back to the issue at hand, there is no such thing as hallucinating someone who tells you information you don’t know. What we do know is the Didact could speak to the Chief. I’m thinking that Cortana joined the Domain and reawakened it, and is now speaking to Chief through it. She’s not alive, but her memory/imprint is.

Do tell. Not quite sure what you mean by this.
