This Has Really Killed The Beta For Me

I’ve played this beta for about 16.7 hours last I checked, and I’ve searched for games close to 7 hours total now. Searching for games for up to 5 mins really sucks the life out of me for this game,

I agree one has to be very patient for this beta, but u did it for a good cause at least

Team Slayer is reasonable but Strongholds is unbearable, but in any event the wait times are unacceptable. Hopefully they have learned from MCC.

If after 1 min of searching a game nothing is yielded I back out via a party or signing out. I realize this is not a faster solution but at least I feel like I’m somewhat in control.

I restart if I find no one early on, but if you find some random people is when it can either be a fast search or an insanely slow one. If someone drops out during searching is when it can take a crazy long time.

I look forward to participating in the official survey, and this is a point I will bring up. Searches need to be at least 4X faster. We should find a game in under two minutes, ideally within 60 seconds.

Looks like the beta is following MCC’s lead on matchmaking times.

Take anything that worked well on xbox 360, xbox one’s motto is to scrap that and make it worse!

Just so we’re clear, you want:

  1. A ranking system that properly displays your skill.

  2. Want to be properly matched up with those at your skill level.

  3. Want a Beta with about 1.5 million possible users to have a high population during N.American school and working hours.

  4. Want #3 to maintain an evenly high population in 3 playlists.

  5. Want to always be matched up on YOUR server because that is where the population is.

This all must be satiated in 1-2 minutes?

On MCC’s side, you want:

  1. 1.5 million users to be equally active on both the MCC and H5 beta at the same time.

  2. 1.5 million users all playing the same playlist.

  3. 1.5 million user all on the same data centre.

  4. And of course we’re all matched according to our skills while taking into account all of the above.

7 hours?
that’s pretty hard to believe unless you’re playing during off peak hours.
I don’t know my hours played but I know I haven’t sat in search near 50% of the time ive been on

I’ve played just over 300 games. It’s rare if I don’t have to search for 5 minutes to find a match

I find all games in all gametypes within 1-3 minutes.
I mean…7 hours?? I’m sorry but that’s just hard to believe.

Everyone wanted dedicated servers, well you got em.

Load times are longer than older P2P games because with the old Setup, every new xbox sold essentially meant a new server, and wasn’t costing Microsoft anything.

Now they’re having to buy the servers, and you know money hungry corporations! They will spend as little as possible. Not just that, but you need to realize that the servers are doing EVERYTHING now, and it’s not an easy thing to get started. This is brand new for Halo.

Halo has always been p2p, so servers are a new idea, and will obviously take just a little bit of time to get right.

Believe in 343/Microsoft. Halo is one of Xbox flagship titles, they can’t risk -Yoinking!- up Halo 5.

I cant even find a game most of the time, well no, it finds a game but then the screen flashes and then takes me back to the menu

All I mentioned was the search times, if you’re pulling the rest of these points from other posts, that’s their own opinions and not on this topic, which is what is an adequate and acceptable time frame to find games of decently equal skilled players.

I understand this is a beta, which is why I’m not flipping my -Yoink- over it, but if this is going to be a new norm for search times in the final release then it’s ridiculous.

Right now I’m banking on this being a beta, and a good portion of this game just needs worked on more for a more solid game. But I will most certainly bring this point up if there is an official survey.

If you search solo then search times are much faster. I prefer playing with my friends and it takes a considerably more time to find games that way.
