This game's soundtrack doesn't get much love.

I’m listening to a few of the songs, and not going to lie these songs sounds like something that would be in a main line Halo game. I think Infamy really fit when you’re charging up the hill fighting Decimus for the first time. Or Antediluvian playing when you fight the Hunter Captain for the first time. The only thing I wish is in Domination we got back Barrens toward the end. I know it’s not much of a big deal but any tracks you guys like?

It made me think the Spirit of Fire was going to be destroyed.

The main menu theme and the soundtrack “abolition” are my favorites, but the whole OST is really good. I’m actually pretty surprised they didn’t add abolition to multiplayer.

I see it’s coming out on double vinyl:

Halo Wars 2 - Original Game Soundtrack Limited Edition

It doesn’t come close to the original’s score imo. Stephen Rippy is God.

I love the Soundtrack of this game, especially the main theme. It is just anazing! The Banishing belongs to my favourites.

I’m going to be honest, I have commendations especially for this soundtrack. It was both awesome and fitting greatly to the tone and factions of this game, Brutes, I believe, deserve a a symphony of low pitched Trombone explosions, and Choirs of dominant male voices.
People comment hate about 5s soundtrack all the time, and literally nobody I’ve seen, has denounced this one, Gordy and Brion Deserve all the praise they get from me!

Also I love how they brought back the Halo Wars 1 signature theme for some nostalgia while also making their own reoccurring melody ( melody can be heard at the end of “Arise Goodbye” -Yoink!- I LOVE THIS PART)

It’s fairly different than the first so they can’t really be compared, the tone is way more Banished and lacked the piano, and thinking personally, if they brought Stephen for production on this, I doubt it’d be the same.

What do you think? Cause Gorby and Brion hit it straight out of the park for me!

There are good songs, but it doesn’t sound like Halo to me. Just watch the final cutscene of the original Halo Wars and pay attention to how the music just fits so perfectly. The final note as the empty cryo chamber closes isn’t something forgettable.

I know the whole argument that it doesn’t sound like halo :frowning:
but let me say this much, if we’re judging off not sounding like Halo, than every song 343 has written is garbage. Whether that’s your stance or not is none of my business though, haha.
There is no denying they’ve strayed from Piano to symphony, and have strayed from the original sound to some sort of spacious tone with Halo 5 And than going full on Brute music for Halo Wars 2. All I’m saying though, is that they shine best where they fit, Halo Wars 2’s wouldn’t work in Halo Wars 1 plain and simply because the main antagonists aren’t Banished, and vice Versa because Halo Wars 2 lacks the adventurous tone that Halo Wars 1 was going for.
Personally speaking, I have been loving the 343 that takes simple concepts and goes all out with them, shelling a soundtrack that sounds nothing like halo, but fits perfectly with the game.
This is coming from someone that thinks Dark Souls 3’s soundtrack was miles better than the original, and I still get flak. Sometimes I like change
I’ll say though, there’s no doubt it isn’t halo, but I see a bright side in that cause it’s technically not the Halo were used to.

I actually liked this game’s soundtrack better than the first in my opinion.

I’ve got the entire OST downloaded off iTunes. Listen to it all the time while I’m driving to work

Barren, Antediluvian, Scorched Earth, Simulacra, Recommissioned, Heads up Display and of course the menu theme; Cratered!
GH

Know what other games don’t get enough love for their soundtracks? Halo: Spartan Strike and Assault, they are beautiful and sound almost like the holy works of Martin O’Donnell. This game too defs has great music as well.

I just absolutely love the subtle music in multiplayer when there’s no action.

Couldn’t agree more with you all! The music is absolutely amazing and did you all see the soundtrack come out on classic vinyl? with the art work of The Spirit of Fire! Perfection!!!

Halo Wars 2’s Soundtrack has to be up there as one of my favourite Halo Soundtracks, there’s just so much to love! From the calming tracks, like Crated and Heads Up Display, to the dramatic building up tracks like It’s Done; Bon Voyage, Bon Chance; Abolition, and Antediluvian.

It’s also got some really nice ambient tracks that play in the Skirmish and MP modes, and they did a nice job of personalising some of the tracks to fit the UNSC, and the Banished. So there’s a nice amount of diversity in there, I just wish it got more attention, as I rarely hear any love for the HW2 soundtrack. But here’s hoping Awakening the Nightmare gets some more amazing original tracks!

Which one is Simulacra again?

Most of the main menue music is litterally just a bunch of random notes that don’t go anywhere. I don’t see how that makes it good

Where in that comment do you see anything about main menu theme, that’s everyone else. Also the main menu theme actually is dynamic. The notes go up and down. Even has parts where it should climax but since it is a repetitive theme that tends to happen.
