The lag in this game frankly is so atrocious. Do not say it is my connection. I can play Reach, Anniversary, 3 EVERY Halo game online with little to no lag. Others have experienced this problem as well with good connections in other games. However the lag in 4 is to a gamebreaking point. Rubber Banding is everywhere, shots wont hit where you want them. Walls suddenly appear, your character decides to take a mind of its own and closely inspect the door frames.
This should be 343’s PRIORITY in fixing. Otherwise, Halo 4 will cease to exist online.
now I don’t have the greatest connection… but I am also experiencing really bad lag, but only on Halo 4. all my other games are fine.
on the other hand, after the new update came out yesterday, I had a lag free night (almost) and for the first time I got to enjoy Spartan Ops because the lag wasn’t there. (for some reason SPOPS has been super lagging since launch for me)
I hope that some stuff was fixed and it wasn’t just a lucky night for me.
I teleported across the map, AWAY from my team mates 3 times in spartan ops yesterday around 4pm EST. Then while playing last night, around 8pm, I had a guy who was teleporting around in matchmaking to the point of no one being able to kill him. I also teleported OFF the map and fell to my death in the very next match. It really gets frustrating.
I wish someone would or could explain to the community WHY this has to happen each and every game release. This isnt the first game thats been released. You would think they would have figured out how to write proper netcoding in a few decades. Ever CoD game is laggy as hell, same with EVERY Halo game. WHY???
Because companies will only set up a few servers for what they think the gaming community will shrink down to in time. So when you have 1,000,000 people on servers meant for 500,000… it will hurt til the other 500,000 get angry or tired of the game and eventually go down to what the servers were meant for.
I would expect companies to put up extra servers at the start of a game and then close them down over time, but no… that would be good customer service and that REALLY does not exist anymore.
the problem with that is they can’t fix it unless we play it, so we have to deal with the issue. I’m tired of being in a match where I die from 2 BR shots while the guy on the other team survives splatters and rockets.

Wouldn’t know, the only lag I usually get us in co-op.
Although I’m not an expert at these sort of things. How does us playing help them fix it?

If we consistently strain their servers and cause lag, they will consider adding another server or boosting their service. If we stop playing, their servers will have less latency issues and they will just say “whatever” and move along.
But we shouldnt REALLY be straining their servers all that much should we? Halo 4 does not use dedicated servers like Battlefield 3 does. We play on a P2P network so the strain should be MUCH less. A uber wealthy and funded company like 343 and Microsoft should have the dough to cough it up.
You should be able to download it in my file share, its a video clip showing me trying to walk through a door, but the server keeps trying to find a host. Keep in mind the video only shows the time played, and not the time in between waiting for the game to find a host. It was pretty ridiculous.
> can’t help but notice all threads complaining about lag are never caused by the user’s connection. I haven’t experienced lag, i must have gotten a good copy of the game from gamestop.
Cant help but notice that in every game i either experience minor lag, where a sniper round might miss a couple inches. But when i play Halo, i miss by 10,000 feet, shooting the opposite direction i wanted to.
