This game will last way less than Reach

Im not sure if it was the lack of marketing, something wrong in the numbers or that mostly everyone hates this game.

200k to 400k online is absolutelly ridiculous for a Halo game. Halo 3 had 1 million and Reach, 1.1million at launch.

Ive not seen this game hitting more than 500k yet.

Is it because of BOPS2? No. There were cods coming out even when Halo Reach arrived, so thats not an excuse.

I just cant find a reason of why such low quantities of players.

No its not because of Sandy. Europe should at least have 500k online.

it’s because everyone’s playing campaign.

p.s. It sold 3 million copies day 1

Thats not an excuse either. People were playing campaign also when 3 and Reach came out, and they still had good numbers.

you are confusing in game player with online players.

Oh yeah, Reach for the win!

Mostly everyone? Not so much.

How is less than 500k bad? I don’t think you understand how big of a number that is to be playing simultaneously. 3 days out from release, lets just say the game sold 5M copies so far. thats a pretty good portion of people that bought the game that are all playing at the same time. Reach population was barely over 100k at a single time for the last year and a half

In-game counters aren’t always right.

Also, I could care less about the number of people online. If I like the game, I’m playing it. People could be playing Campaign and Spartan Ops.

Btw, not everyone has Xbox LIVE.

Those 3 excuses are not valid. Halo Reach has campaign, firefight and most people didnt have XBL back then also.

Well I love the game but I dont want it to die faster than Halo Reach. It all indicates it will anyway.

Reach had that many at launch, but as i remember after a month it was barely breaking 200k when i played. I stopped playing reach once i got my 1000G because armor lock and the DMR bloom just turned me off completely from the game.

why doesn’t OP try throwing out proof instead of statements backed only by opinion?

ODST and Halo Wars was better then Reach. Sorry but i disagree, this game is awesome. not enough time put into to know if its my favorite but its better then Reach and that was by far the worst Halo

Assuming Reach and Halo 3 had 2x more population from the start then yes its bad.

Because not everyone plays all day, so only a fraction of the total amount of people who bought the game will be online at any given time. Besides that, you have to take into account all of the time zones around the world.

i dont know how many times theyve stated that those counters where never accurate, especially in halo 3.

the fact that reach and H3 and 2x times population proves my point. neither of them had more than 100-150k players online at a single time a week after launch. the launch week player counters are completely irrelevant to how long the player base is going to last

Halo 3 did a 24 hour population count, the number you saw was the amount of players logging in within the last 24 hours. The 400k you’re seeing online in Halo 4 is JUST within the playlists and is exact within a few minutes or so (not 24 hour count Halo 3 uses), you have also excluded Campaign, Forge, Spartan Ops and Custom games.
As someone said, it sold 3 million on day one, Halo 3 and Reach sold about the same, I think Halo 3 was 3.1 million. Do you really believe only 1 in 7 players (400k to 3 million as a ratio approx) are playing MP? Some people are not on in different parts of the world and a crap-ton are playing Campaign or other modes.

Halo 4 has great numbers, it’s longevity is a different story, I think it’ll last as long as Reach, if not longer. Reach had a live player count refreshing every few minutes, it had 150k players online at peak activity times one year after release and was constantly in the top 5 for XBL activity charts.

This game will most likely do the same. It’s phenomenal. Although the DMR is a tad OP imo.

Timezones dont change between the release of Halo Reach and Halo 4. I saw twice more numbers on these game launches by night (GMT).

Halo 3 did not do a 24 hour population count. It started doing that about 3/4 years later if im not mistaken.

you’re very mistaken
