did this game get everything so wrong?
I just dont understand what happened in the 3 years of development? These points are stuff that are new. They are things that EVERYONE expected to be in this game. We thought these points were just simple and basic and of course Halo 4 would have it. After all they are some of the fundamentals of Halo and cannot be a Halo without them. Lets look at just some of the simple basics…
Weapons:
There are some new weapons here, all just a copy/paste of the human counterpart. Absolutely no innovation here (except maybe boltshot, which were copies of the brute shotgun in halo 3).
So why how the weapons not balanced? There is nothing to experiment with and do the wholetrails and error, some weapons are just flat out more powerful than others. In those 3 years of development and the 10+ years of the halo franchise with these weapons, how could you not balance them? I want to use other weapons, I really do, but nothing can beat the dmr, NOTHING!
Now the Halo Reach DMR vs the Halo 4 BR would be worth trying out. A beta could of sort out the balance issues easily.
Fileshare: This has been around since H3 and is an incredibly simple system. Just call bungie and ask why its not working already.
Ranking system: Now Microsoft has something call Truskill that I believe all Microsoft published games use. People who are good at games can tell that this system somewhat works. When a new game comes out it is so easy to just dominate, but as time goes on you will start to get matched up with similar skilled players. Another way to tell is to play with someone who has a noticeably lower skill gap. Notice the enemy players are alot worse than you are use to? It matches people who are skilled into you and your partner.
Now with that being said, 343i has 2 different ranking systems to base their game after: Microsofts and Bungies (which im sure incorporates Microsofts). This already exists! No excuse for it to be patched in.
Vehicles: No new vehicles. Thats okay, the vehicles were great, now let me just ride the hornet… oh wait, they took that out and others. Vehicles already existed, just make them available!
Forge: I dont really mess around with forge, but there is one noticeable thing: no forge world. Halo 3 and Reach had one. Once again no excuse not to have one.
Theater: Does not play the announcers voice. Very important when trying to make youtube videos.
Custom Games: Now its obvious that some setting do not work and some things need to be added. If anyone knows anything about programming its that something this simple can be fixed in a day. I honestly never heard of custom game options not working in any games ever. No excuse.
Matchmaking: Okay, so this is something we can always relay on. Halo’s MM has been perfect since H2, so why change it? Well they did. Where is objective? Where!? I like playing CTF, then KotH, then another CTF, a little oddball, and my favorite, assault. Ive noticed I havent played assault yet… must be in custom options… nope, not there either. Halo CE had this! Why are there not riots about this!?
Other things that are beyond explanation: No FFA, the most basic fundamental thing in a FPS! Doubles, multiteam, and team snipes are missing. They do have Dominion, which is good, and another called extraction, which they didnt bother to put in MM, and some fun maps, also not in MM. They put out DLC before they put out some maps on the freaking disc!
I really do miss everyone having assault rifle at the beginning of the game. Why does every playlist have a loadout. Every single game is just DMR spam. EVERY SINGLE GAME.
Now I really do enjoy this game. I think the gameplay is fun, maps are fun, I like ordinances if they were specific to a certain playlist, but how are the most basic components in the Halo franchise just gone? Nothing I have pointed out are not new grand ideas, they were taken from previous Halos! It’s like these developers never played the past Halos and made this game based off things they vaguely heard when someone talked about Halo.
I could honestly go on about so many different things, but im sure most people wont even read this. The fact that these developer overlooked the most basic Halo things makes me think that there is no hope what so ever for TUs to fix this game.
