Halo Infinite looks amazing all the flights have blown me away and the recent campaign preview and trailer have me as if I was a kid again. As long as the game launches in the same state as the flights (or better) I’ll be over the moon.
But, I do have one lingering question multiplayer. Will there still be spartan armors and colors that clearly identify the achievements and time commitment some players put into the game… or will it be drowned out by a pay to win battlepass and countless skins from the store. (I know theres is the SR152 Watchdog skin but I’m referring directly to halo infinite unlockables). I just feel like it’s missing the “I earned this” factor that the battlepass can’t give (because you can pay for tiers).
I’m all for the micro transactions. I want this game to succeed and exceed expectations so the franchise can still be here in another decade, but, I’ll never forget when a 12 year old me cowered in fear when I matched against a group of inheritors in Halo: Reach. A formative memory that made me that made me want to be as good and look as cool as those players. I still get a similar feeling when I play COD or Battlefield through a xp rank system but it’s not the same as when I finally got the haunted skull mask in Halo: Reach. As an adult and a part of me doesn’t want that to fade, not just for me, but for my nieces and nephews who never felt that sort of adrenaline when playing against someone you knew was good. I hate to do this comparison but it’s almost exactly like the Fortnite system, you don’t have to earn anything… you just pay for it. And let’s be honest… no one is afraid of going up against a Banana much less impressed.
