What I’ve noticed with Halo 5 is that the majority of arena maps are based around CQC or other power weapon(powerups) such as Railgun, Plasma caster, etc. The maps are to small, ttk too fast for the Sniper to compete. Don’t even mention about thrusters. I believe the solution to the problem is to increase radar for a less likely chance at engaging CQC, increase Sniper Rifle’s rate of fire to get those pesky thrusters, Increase ttk. The Sniper Rifle is one of most skilled based power weapons and I’m sure many of you agree on that. I feel like that Sniper is neglected in this game because every map it’s included in there’s only one Sniper and maps feel based around CQC and Spartan abilities.
warzone is the opposite… nothing but big maps and ultra long range fights.
yes, 343 completely dropped the ball with the arena maps.
tho most people who do well with the sniper rifle in arena basically use it like a gigantic pistol…
The Sniper is really only good in Plaza.
I don’t know man, BtB and warzone are probably going to allow long range gameplay with DMRs and snipers. So if you want that kind of experience it won’t be long until you can enjoy BtB. The sniper can be effective in this game in the right hands. But once the enemy team knows you have it they won’t just go out in the open and make it easy for you.
There are enough sight lines for sniper play IMO. If even a super sniper scrub (make that official terminology) can get some kills in then the maps are fine. Just gotta keep in mind that you can’t cover all possible positions so keeping on the move is more important than previously.

But remembering halo 3 with big maps and only snipers give me creeps
It was lot of time wasted with campers, nothing wins over a good old beatdown
i agree the sniper rifle gameplay is poor, the maps are too small and given the tiny radar unless you run around with a sniper quick scoping there really is no point to the gun
i’m wondering if we’ll have team sniper as a playlist… because maps are mostly quite small for sniping, as seen on shotty sniper
with Aiming now being much faster with LT, it’s so so easy to get quick sniper kills. its just a different learning curve.
