This game is so frustrating

In the first ten matches I was having a great time and after winning all ten I got put into onyx III, then shortly after another two wins I got into semi pro. Since then I have had such a mixture of thoughts while playing this game. I’ll go over the main points I’ve noticed.

Ranking System

First off, the ranking system is probably the best since Halo 3 in that it actually somewhat works. I have been consistently matching with people gold or higher compared to H2A where there was absolutely nothing separating the pros from the noobs. Because of this though it has been an extremely jarring experience going from reach-H2A where there would be no skill balancing system to H5 where now I am getting matched with people all roughly around my skill level.

Spartan Abilities

Although I would probably like to try out a version of H5 without sprint, I do not mind these all too much.

Gun play

Here is where I start to get frustrated. In all previous halos, I would have an 80% chance of beating the average player if everything was equal. Now in H5 I can barely win 50% of the battles I get into even if I get the first shot off. I just feel like there’s something wrong with how I’m shooting or aiming in this game. I see people gunning me down with a 1/3 of their AR clip, meanwhile I can’t even manage to take someone down with my full AR clip. It’s so frustrating shooting your enemy and see nothing happen to them meanwhile they swiftly take you out.

What happened to 1v1s?

As a solo player this is unbelievably annoying. In every previous Halo I would see an enemy on the radar, go to engage him and the recuperate afterwards getting ready to find my next target. In h5 I’d say 1 in 10 engagements I have are 1v1s. A couple times it might start off as a 1v1, but then another enemy comes along to help out and clean me up, although the majority of the time there’s at least 3 enemies in the same spot at once and I can never get into a decent equal fight.

Time to kill

Going along with the fact I can hardly get a good 1v1, I can’t do anything once I’ve started being shot at. There isn’t enough time for me to react if i start getting shot at and most of the time it’s from two different directions anyway. It should definitely take a little longer to kill someone, but with that the enemy shouldn’t be able to escape death easily.

I could go on a lot longer, but I think I’ll just stop here for now. Overall I would say I’m disappointed in how the game mechanics are working. I’m going to keep playing the beta, but at this point I only really care to see the BTB side of H5 where hopefully these problems won’t be as apparent.

Yes we know all tbe weapons need a rof nerf. To fix the loss speed for a fight theyll need to up base speed and add a bonus multiplier for shooting sprinting players.

That should fix some of what your encountering.
343 say they read the forums sothey should see this.

I’m loving the beta, just think the AR need some fixs, its fire rate is too high, making it little slower ill balance it I believe, ppl ill continue to kill with the same amount of bullets but at slower time, the rest fells fine to me

Time to kill is a big deal for me. Its way to accesible and fast across the board.

Also i noticed that about the 1v1 situation. And with close examination i see exactly what they did.

Of course they think they are “evolving” halo with all this foolishness they brought into the game. Yet they wanted to appeal to the veterans with old fashioned teamwork.

All thats happens is when you win a 1v1 battle, CONGRATZ!! But you will be getting cleaned up by his teamate 9/10 times.

TRUSTTTT ME!!! I am not just complaining because i suck. I am the mastermind at running away/knowing the most non-vulnerable spots to shoot from in FFA halo reach/halo 4(dont rely on my stats im good at ffa)

There is no way to esacpe after you finish somebody. They MUST want to emphasize kill trading because there is a hallway and backdoor cut every square foot on the map.

I think the AR needs a nerf at range and just an overall damage decrease. Right now theres no incentive to pick up weapons of the map because of the AR

1vs1 is “dead” becouse the sprint. People want changes. Well, changes have a dark side too :wink:

I can tell you sprint feels clunky on Recon, so I feel very unsafe and unconfident in using it in firefights. I just rely more on thrusters now to duck into nearby cover.

Silly?

FFA even allowed 1v1s in small maps all the time in past halos. Except maybe if there is 8 players.

Besides its a very valid complaint. If it aint broke dont fix it.

In Midship or Heretic I’d be getting into 1v1 engagements all the time. Now in truth I hardly ever see just a single enemy to take on, it’s all just groups now.

The emphasis is a lot on teamwork now that’s a point. Wonder if it is bad or good though.

why all you noobz pick on the ar :frowning: its extremely under powered in all halo’s except H CE and H4 - also H2A - what 343 needs to do is increase kill times, make the BR take skill and take out ALL MAGNETISM AND AIM ASSIST!!! and make it a 5 shot headshot, and make the DMR take another bullet. and make the AR take another 4, and SMG is a bit need of nerf, maybe like 3 bullets, - it has to be stronger than AR or whats the point of it - but if the increase kill time than itll be fine, dont nerf the ar :slight_smile: its bad enough we will have precision starts, if i had my way, bye BR and DMR. and id make the sniper auto fire but you cant zoom. but thats me

I really hope this isn’t serious. every suggestion you just made was pretty bad (at least IMO).

I guess I’m just having a different experience from you.

If you are getting your shots of first AND landing all your shots, you should be winning duals. If not its lag.

If you are relying on the AR at the semi pro level. STOP. The precision weapons, in the hands of good players will drop you every time.

As far a TTK is concerned. Use your thrusters. Rarely am I caught so completely off guard that a can use thrust to give myself a fighting chance.

As far as 1on1’s. You’re playing team slayer. It sounds like your opponents are playing as a team, and you are lone wolfing it.

Too many lopsided games and bad teammate paring. I went 13-2 one game we won, then 1-9 an lost 6-50. That equals no fun.
