I was recently banned for saying this game is rated M and that players shouldn’t get hurt feelings for performing badly because of it’s M rating. I don’t know how that is remotely offensive, but to each their own.
I’ve gone to level 99 in this game. I play solely matchmaking. But they’ve killed it. 343, you have killed this game. Maybe it wasn’t your intention to kill Halo, and I quite possibly believe you tried to cater to everybody in making the game. But when you try to please everyone…you know the saying.
What’s wrong with this game and how can they fix it? Biggest fix: Get a social slayer and a social playlist and separate it from a ranked, competitive playlist. If this ever happens, a large portion of the player base that left will come back without any other fixes.
The DMR has to be fixed. Guns have to be fixed. The DMR needs far less bullet magnetism and either a bloom or a slower ROF. The carbine needs a slight damage boost, as it does not compete with any of the rifles. The boltshot needs to be a 2 shot kill and the plasma pistol needs to be a picked up weapon.
Armor Abilities…simply put, needs to be severely fixed. I’m ok with realizing AA’s will forever be with Halo from Reach on. But they must be balanced. The AC is far too powerful. It needs to be a hidden power up or a personal ordinance. Jet packing should just not exist. Or even better…how can a person shoot a gun and operate a jet pack at the same time? How does that make sense? If you can’t operate a weapon with thruster while staying on the ground, why can you operate a weapon while using the jet pack? Seriously, think about this. To operate a jetpack, a person has to use at least one hand. Sure, he can shoot with the other hand. But you would imagine the ammo being shot all over the place instead of nicely inside the reticle. And you can zoom in too while jetpacking? That doesn’t make sense. Take away the shooting abilities while a person is in flight with the jetpack. Or, if not that, at least make the ammo fire out very sporadically and random. The jet pack ruins some maps. I’m ok with PV though, just because it really doesn’t do much.
Fix the join in progress. Need I say more? Yeah, it sucked when a teammate quit on a game. But we don’t want to join a game in progress when we’re already losing. And please, fix starting games uneven. This isn’t COD, where the quick kill times mean missing a person or two doesn’t really affect the game. This is Halo. Teammates and even teams are essential to the fabric of the game.
I was going to go after the maps, but there is a new map pack coming out soon and they are testing smaller community made forge maps. So they are making strides in that department.
Take away all ordinances. We don’t need killstreak rewards; otherwise we’d play COD. We don’t need big indicators above where the weapons are, we’ll figure those out ourselves in forge mode. It also puts the person who gets the weapon at a disadvantage, because now everyone knows where they are at. Instead, have set weapon respawn times at the same places. I’m ok with the weapon despawning system, because if someone dies, that person should not be allowed to get their weapons back. That weapon should despawn in 10 seconds so that the killer has the choice to take the weapon or not.
Parties should never be paired against randoms if the party is greater than 2 in 4v4/objective and greater than 4 in BTB. This creates an unbalanced, unfair advantage. And also, let us see who is in a party. If I’m a random, I want to back out before playing the party of 4 people in 4v4.
Take out killcams. Put indicators of where our teammates are and when they get killed on the screen. Fix CTF. Make more levels. There is so much more that I could go in to but I don’t have the time.
I will add some positives. The graphics are pretty awesome. The radar is a lot better (although I did like Reach’s system where lower levels would appear lighter on the screen). The plethora of weapons is a welcome change as well. I can live with the point system. The innovation…at least they tried. But make sure the game isn’t broken before releasing it. For all the positives there are, there are just too many negatives. They released an incomplete game, and gamers are rightfully flocking elsewhere. And 343 is rather slow on making these fixes. If they’re all about money, they need to make the fixes fast to get part of the population back. Otherwise, they will sell far less DLC and Halo 5 than they potentially can.
