Everyone only thinks it is because it is “different” than the last one. Newsflash: you can’t expect it to play exactly like the first one. Then it wouldn’t be worth the effort making the game, nor the money to buy the game, if you could already play it. It plays similar to the original in many ways, yet different in others. It is what a sequel should be. The controls are different, however I don’t think they’ll be that bad once everyone gets used to them.
As a side note: the button used to access the commander tree in the controls screen is referred to as the B button. I thought that was kinda funny.
By different they removed some great aspects from the original game like cobras and elephants, they removed friendly cursors on the mini map, having no sounds when marking things, lower populations, and completely removed all settings like adjusting scroll speed and changing your controls.

Remember it is a BETA, the cobras and elephants may still be in the game but under as a different leader. Some units may not be in the beta, just keep this in mind.

You do realize its a beta version of an UNFINISHED game?? I doubt they want anyone really focusing on that when they just want to get feed back on the game it self, units, characters, and all that. As far as units go well doesn’t really matter to me what units they have lol just as long as its fun, immersive, and just keeps me wanting to play it day after day.
I think it’s highly over priced. I might buy it if it was less then $15.

The one playlist on beta is extremely boring, grab capture points and win… you can play without ever fighting an enemy. Also I got more points then anyone on both teams even more then the other team combined but when we lost I lost a rank, horrible, it’s not my fault I got stuck with an idiot.

There is literally no options menu in the Beta. You’ll likely be able to do all that stuff in the full game. Also, Cobras and Elephants might be with the other leaders.

How is that ignorant? I’d never pay more then $20 for any RTSG.
They took the simplistic style of HW1 and destroyed it with over complications to every menu and every aspect of the game. This is an effort to get the RTS crowd to shell out the cash for HW2. They however just alienated a boatload of the original player base.
If I had my choice - I would shell out 60 dollars for a complete DLC pack expansion to HW1 then the heaping garbage pile that is HW2.

A complicated game is a game worth learning… well, at least most of the time.

Sounds like you’re just not a huge RTS guy. That’s fine. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.
